[ When the Doctor wandered into his room for the first time since yesterday this morning, he finds a fez. So, guess what he's wearing when he makes this broadcast a little while later?

The fez, of course.

I guess they really are trying to spoil us. If I got things right, this has happened before? Things from our planets or worlds or universes - whichever works fine, I suppose - coming here. Or, if you're lucky, it's spoiling. Depends on what you get.

Something to do with the animals? Possibly. But what's with the plants? They obviously come from the outside, since they had all that colour. The animals too. So why? Why all of this?

[ A pause. ]

It's almost like someone's trying to get on our good side. Or they're possibly a little bored.

I... don't know that everyone agrees with you. There was a vampire a while back, Diva. She was probably against the giants, but she definitely served her own ends. We might be in the same boat, but we aren't all on the same page.

Oh, yes, of course, that's a given. But the same boat tends to make people more compelled to trust others.

I can agree there. It's a lot harder to hate the guy next to you in a foxhole. Your life might depend on him tomorrow. I still have trouble with it, but even for me it's easier than it would be at home.

It's a good thing in pressing situations, as long as you're somewhat prepared for anything.

And aware that you are that way. I know why I got this way, and I ... in theory I do understand that people aren't all that way. It's just hard to believe sometimes. Think anti-pavlov if you understand what I mean.

I do. Theories are always a good thing to keep in mind. They're based on facts, and you can always rely on facts.

Besides, I don't see how it's so surprising that a hat conversation led to this, really.

Well, no reason this makes more or less sense than anything else, I guess. Conversations are weird that way as is I guess.

Yep. I guess I'm tempting fate mostly because it's already going to get worse. So, why worry about it?

Pessimism, for all its problems, has its value. You get the joy of being right more than you are wrong. Kinda helps if you like tap-dancing on an idiot's grave.
