[ When the Doctor wandered into his room for the first time since yesterday this morning, he finds a fez. So, guess what he's wearing when he makes this broadcast a little while later?

The fez, of course.

Because fezzes are cool. ]

I guess they really are trying to spoil us. If I got things right, this has happened before? Things from our planets or worlds or universes - whichever works fine, I suppose - coming here. Or, if you're lucky, it's spoiling. Depends on what you get.

Something to do with the animals? Possibly. But what's with the plants? They obviously come from the outside, since they had all that colour. The animals too. So why? Why all of this?

[ A pause. ]

It's almost like someone's trying to get on our good side. Or they're possibly a little bored.

It's a fez! I found it in our room, so I put it on. I found one in a museum a while back, but River shot it, because she doesn't let me have cool things.

[The video will get her interest due to the hat choice on top of the Doctor's head. Hmmm. Did the Doctor prefer those sort of style hats just like Ririchiyo prefers the French style? It was an interesting question. She wanted to ask, but halted herself from doing so. What if he starts asking her uncomfortable questions again? She was not...ready to face the issues...again.

Still. Maybe she should offer the Doctor an answer to his question, even if it is her observation. He did offer her the permission to speak without being careful, so maybe....

Yes. A similiar occurance has happened once before, a few monthes or so ago. Although, there is a difference between the gifts offered to us now than the ones in the past. However, it does hold certain similiarities in receiving them...

[Oh, she forgot about her letter.]

...is the hat dear to you? It would seem as though...everyone has been receiving items with personal value to them. [There. She tactfully hinted it. Close enough.]

I thought somethin' was weird about the plants, given what everyone was saying when I arrived. I think I prefer them trying to get on our good side rather than bein' bored.

It's a bit of a turn either way. It seems any stimulus that creates a reason to emote is used, whether positive or negative. That's assuming this, again, is the work of the usual suspects.

It's likely everything has a bit of the emoting thing in the background, if it is them, but I wouldn't count on that always being all of it.

Before I ask you the obvious question of why you are wearing a Fez, I'll ask you a more important question.

How many people have asked you what the deal with the weird hat is?

More than who asked about the celery. I guess I didn't talk enough.

[Don't mind the cheerfully grinning redhead with clocks for eyes, Doctor. The hat brings him back so many happy memories of being in lovely places of the globe like Cairo- goodness knows how much time he spent roving around the temples.]

Yes, and it has happened before! I got my eyes back, you see. Well, obviously not back in my face, you can clearly see that. [They're sitting in a golden jar in his room. Don't ask.]

But, erm...that time when we got things back was also fraught with violence, if I remember. It wasn't such a happy time as this one...

[ It seems that not only has the Doctor had something returned to him, but others as well as talking could be heard in the background from none other than her pet myna bird, Murai. He seemed to be switching between a range of different things to say, but the loudest one seemed to be “What’s with the plants?” in a voice eerily similar to the Doctor’s own. Murai was, in short, mimicking the other as it was what it did - it was like a parrot, only its pitch was much better than that of a parrot that sounded nothing like the person who spoke. ]

Always with the interesting things, aren’t you Doctor? [ By now she was starting to get use to it. ] First celery and now a fez. You certainly are mad, or perhaps a little strange.

But the celery and the fez really don't have that much to do with it. Who's that talking in the background?

Most likely it's a trap. You know, trying to lull us into a sense of security before something else comes along to terrorize the city. It'd be a great strategy if they actually executed it in a way that wasn't so blatantly obvious.
