There's something I've been thinking about for a while now. I want to build an airship. I've been here a few months now, and it feels strange being stuck on one island for so long, especially an island as big as this one.

So, I was wondering if anyone had experience with building ships? Or just mechanics in general, and would know how to make some of the parts? I'm sure there are schematics in the library, though Vyse and Enrique would know that better than me. The main thing I'm worried about is what sort of fuel it would run on, since there don't seem to be any moonstones in Asgard.

Oh, right! Aoto said that the airships in his world were probably very different to the ones I'm thinking of, so I drew a picture of one!







If you help out, we might make you part of our crew! Vyse is the captain, before anyone tries to claim that one.

[She swallows her wounded pride at being shown up by Ramirez of all people. As upset as she is that his criticisms of her drawing might be true, despite the sheer amount of effort she put into it, she has to admit that she's pretty impressed by just how well he's delivered.]

It's not just a picture, it's exactly the sort of picture that people here need to look at to help us with build our airship! I should make you draw the schematics at this rate, you're great!

[Well, he doesn't pick fights he knows he can't win. Unless he's having a mental breakdown, but that's an entirely different story.]

I'm not going to draw your schematics.

[Really, did you expect him to say anything else? Nevertheless, there's a lack of the usual sharp edge he has to his words.

He's not particularly used to receiving compliments, especially concerning something as soft as his artwork, and especially from someone that, for all intents and purposes, belongs to an enemy faction. It's awkward and uncomfortable.]

[She actually looks a little upset at that, even though she didn't really expect him to agree to draw them.]

Awww, but you're so good at it! You'd design the most stylist airship in town!

I'm never mistaken! [Earth to Aika? You were totally just mistaken about the quality of your artwork, for one thing.] Well, maybe I am. But not important things like that!

No, you're quite mistaken about this. [And really, he can't fathom the sudden civility in this conversation what even happened.]

Well, maybe 'you'd be good at it' and 'you want to do it' are different things. If you don't want to help out air pirates, that's fair enough, but if you'd help us with the ship, it would be great! I'm sure you know more about them than anyone here, excepting Vyse maybe.

I would assume you'd want nothing to do with my help.

Vyse probably wouldn't, but it's not him that's asking. Come on, Ramirez! You might even enjoy it!

[His normal response is to say no. He even gears up to say it.

But it doesn't come. At least, not immediately. He has little interest in cooperating with them, true (less because of their Air Pirate status and more due to his general disinterest), but the fact remains that he's been here a long time. A long time without Galcian's control and the poisonous atmosphere of Valua to cloud his judgment. It's tempered him out somewhat, loathe as he is to admit it.

He recalls his childhood after a moment; they were never particularly happy memories, but he did gain enjoyment from putting together those old airship models. There was a certain amount of pride to be had in his creations, down to the last painstaking detail.]

...Maybe.

It's something to think about.

[Because maybe means yes so far as Aika is concerned. Sorry.]

[Aika's kindness to him is, quite frankly, baffling.]
