[Castiel has just returned from a trip to Utgard, to find... Well, a mess, figuratively speaking. That leaves the question surely everyone else who had been out of the city has:]

What happened here while we were gone?

[They were only away a few days, after all, and it seems those who decided to go were fortunate. That of course casts some suspicion onto the timing of the trip, which was already considered a little shady, but that's a matter for a later time. He had things he was going to say during his next post, whenever it was to be, but it doesn't seem appropriate at the moment.]

The natives I encountered said something of an illness, and--

[He stops, suddenly, looking alarmed for a brief moment as he glances at something, then there's faint confusion and his expression returns to neutral before he continues.]

--and of the dragon from Muspellheim, but I am unclear on any details, or if further assistance is needed at the hospital.

[And if he should know anything before heading there. His expression flickers again, gaze snapping to somewhere just offscreen, but he looks back at the feed and seems about to say something further. Instead, however, he abruptly shuts off the connection.]

[There is a long silence, before he responds to this. One, because he's recovering from the disastrous plague. But two, because this seems... familiar. The shiftiness, the glancing out of the corner of your eye, the confusion when nothing is there --

He looks pale, tired, with circles underneath his eyes -- a pallor to his cheeks -- but he sounds quiet and concerned when he speaks, completely ignoring the majority of what the angel says to focus on the one thing most people probably won't even notice.]

[His eyes are very firmly on the screen when he responds, and he frowns just slightly. He hasn't even had time to make it back home yet and check everyone.]

I'm tired, Sam. I am imagining things.

[He hadn't slept on either leg of the trip, and he'd had his usual fitful rest while at Utgard, even if in general the adventure had been pretty relaxing. He's still blaming it on tiredness, because it's the only thing that makes sense. He hasn't even considered other options.]

You look unwell.

You're not needed at the hospital, sweetheart.

[Because she's already there -- and not looking at the bracelet feed, because she's busy pulling on gloves.]

Are you certain? If you are needed, why am I not?

[He's not convinced.]

[It's said patiently. Like discussing a cookie recipe.]

I wouldn't be capable of draining the plague, just symptoms.

You shouldn't be near a plague either. You can't heal yourself.

As far as I can tell, it appears that there has been another attack, which makes use of some nature of poison that induces a potentially fatal illness.

There's not much a healer like me could do either, but it appears they are in the middle of having a vaccine developed to counter the illness.

[ ah, the benefits of having read up a little on modern medicinal terms to help at the hospital from time to time... ]

Was it an attack by one of the other cities?

[Considering mention of the dragon he assumes it probably is.]

Good. That is something, at least.

It seems to be the case. The dragon involved is the same from the first attack on the city, after all.

It is. All I can do for now is tend to those that have gotten ill, and see if I can't help them feel a little better, at least.

[It's a day before Castiel gets a reply from Samantha. She was unconscious for almost all of the previous day, recovering from her having kept awake for almost the whole event, running rampant. She's got a bit of a haggard voice to her.]

I'm assuming folks have filled you in by now. I saw your post up when I finally woke up today. The cure seems to be working ok so far, and there's been no serious incidents. If anyone picks up symptoms later, though, send them straight to the clinic or hospital. We don't need another outbreak.

[He's glad it's audio. It's much easier to respond after he's been up all night watching things that don't exist all over the house.]

Alright. I will likely come to the hospital myself soon and see what can be done.

[Once he's got everything under control anyway. He thinks he can work like this.]

Good to hear it. There'll be some clean up in the meantime one way or another. This's been a ragged week so far. Everything go ok on the shopping trip?

The fire giants of Muspellheim have developed potent chemical weapons, it seems. We were hard pressed to meet this challenge, but meet it we did. A vaccine has been manufactured to fight the virus and I recommend visiting either the hospital or the clinic as soon as possible to get yourself protected, Castiel.

That is very quick, for a vaccine to have been developed.

Alright. Daphne is at the hospital already; I will speak with her about getting vaccine for both her and I.

Has Muspellheim said anything as of yet, or just attacked?

We were fortunate. The properties that made the disease so fast-acting also enabled us to quickly formulate a vaccine.

As far as I know there has been no word from either our attackers or our hosts.

[ She smiles a little bit, scrunching up her nose. ]

But are you well? You seem like something is going wrong? [ That's Lu for you, sticking her nose in other people's business. ]

I'm alright. It was a long trip.

[That much is true enough anyway, especially when it's made stuck in wagons with other people.]

The hospital's kind of busy, but we could probably use another set of hands. [ Allison's been helping out ever since she got better (thanks pretty much entirely to her dad). Her brow furrows slightly, though. ] Are you okay?

[ She nods. ] I got sick during the first wave, I guess they're calling it, but I got better. Luckily. [ Some people died and Allison's more than thankful she wasn't one of them. ]

Ah, you went to Utgard, didn't you? I just came back too, so it is confusing about what occurred...what have you found out about this illness?

[He tilts his head curiously.]

Not a great deal, just that it was apparently caused by the dragon from Muspellheim, and that it was deadly but a vaccine exists for it.

[His gaze is very fixed on the camera, intently even for him.]

That's what I've heard too! How strange, that it would return. But I'm glad they found a solution, I can't imagine the pandemonium...from my experience, plagues and such have never been pretty.
