Chapter 5 ✒ Video
[Hello there, Asgard. Enjoy a message from everyone's favorite mystery writer and wannabe cop. He's currently sitting in his room, his brow furrowed in thought.]
I have a question.
[He pauses, trying to determine the most delicate way to ask this.]
What if we don't want to fight in this supposed war that is coming our way?
[This place isn't that bad. He's met some really great people that he likes. But to be honest? He cares about Beckett and Alexis. They're the only ones that he wants or needs to protect, and would be willing to give his life for. What the hell does he care about the gods and their stupid war with each other? None of this is worth any of their lives.]
What are they going to do? Pull us out of the halls and drop us into a battlefield?
[Maybe he shouldn't have said that out loud because that's probably exactly what they'd do. Castle sure as hell didn't sign up for this. And wouldn't the gods want people who were actually interested in fighting?
He wonders if a deal could be struck. What would be the price for sending he, Beckett and Alexis back home?]

I don't necessarily disbelieve it. I just wonder if there's a way around it.

[Oh no, man. No no no no no no no, he did not sign up for this. Not this time.]
Some kind of war between the gods that we patsies have to fight unless we want our home worlds to go up in flames or something. Ragnarok, starring us.

[Not by the gods, but due to attacks. Castiel isn't sure he believes it, but so far he doesn't have much reason not to in this particular respect.]
Aside from bringing us here and deciding we need to take part in this war, I don't think they will force us individually to fight.
[Maybe not. Maybe he's just an idiot who wants his daughter and girlfriend safe.]

Helps when you have a giant metal snake though. [Said good-naturedly, not sarcastically.]

I've been thinking about that as well recently. There's, ah, certain people I wouldn't want caught up in such a conflict. Should it come to that.

Your sister. As I've said, not everyone here is a warrior or a superhero. What are those of us who are Average Joe's in the fighting department supposed to do?

but this is the battlefield. so it's just like you said right? the war is coming to us.
I think if the gods wanted to then they could force us to fight. but they don't because it's not Asgard's war. it's everyone's. if Ragnarok happens, your world will end too, and they aren't lying about that.
you don't have to believe it I mean. but the people you care about could be sent here either way. refusing to fight won't keep them safe. and refusing to fight won't keep the war away. we are all going to have to do something whether we want to or not. even if that something is nothing. so instead of fighting the things we can't change, we have to do our best to keep living and change what we can. the outcome of this war is one of those things. denying any of it is just
selfish
[ (apparently she's supposed to lead a large, seafaring city-state and adjoining country someday who knew) ]
[ ᴀɴᴏɴ ᴛᴇxᴛ ]
Why is it a dichotomous decision of "fight" or "run"? There are shades of grey in between and the gods are (hopefully) reasonable people. Either they need to lower what their expectations are for the average human being or they need to send those of us who aren't equipped to fight in this back home.

There are some kids here with us, too. Do you know how much trouble the gods would get from us if they expected them to fight with everyone else?
