[Unlike in previous video posts, there are no bandages on Maya's right shoulder, no sling, and her nodachi isn't in the bag she usually keeps it in. No, the beautiful sword with the swirling dragon about the sheath is resting on her shoulder as she stands before the Freya Welcome House.]

I know it's been a couple weeks since I started at the Citadel, but allow me to introduce myself. I'm Natsume Maya, and I'm one of the Citadel's instructors. I teach the sword and meditation techniques. Unlike the other sword instructors, my specialty is the Japanese style of sword. For those of you from non-Earth worlds, if the sword's blade is single-edged and has a curve to it, I can teach it. I offer lessons three times a week for sword, twice a week for meditation. If you're interested, come to the Citadel and sign up.

Now, the Citadel has a code for chivalrous behavior always within it and while taking classes there. If chivalry isn't your thing and you still want to learn, contact me privately. I do give lessons of a less than chivalrous nature on my own time, but understand that they are not easy.

On another note, my fellow Freya members, I would like to start a little house camaraderie here in the form of a martial arts club. If you are a member of Freya and know martial arts, come down to the common room. [She gives a cocky smirk.] The best fighters don't always end up in Thor.

Oh, wait. I remember now. [she smirks] There's a father looking to throttle you, if I recall correctly.

But two of my house members are gone, sadly enough. Looking to recruit some new ones though.

As for the dad, I'm not exactly scared. I've been faced with worse than a dad mad at his daughter's boyfriend.

Oh, so he does know you're dating. It was hard to tell and then I started laughing too much to pay any more attention.

[She shifts the nodachi to lean against the wall next to her.]

Until my shoulder healed enough for me to actually use Reiki, I wasn't keen on letting people know where my mastery lies.

You mentioned meditation... what varieties?

[She definitely had her share of reasons. Lots of them, but she wasn't entirely sure how effective it would be. Still, there was no reason not to try. It had worked before, when she was young.]

Gate Alignment and Calm Mind. [pause] Gate and Chakra are interchangeable if you're more familiar with chakras.

Hindu and Tibetan then.

[She was familiar with the methods, or at least of their existence. She hadn't ever used them. What she had done was probably a cheap, western version of calm mind.]

I might be interested, though you mentioned chivalry. What's that going to have to do with meditation?

Some people don't believe in chivalry and find that code of conduct to be outdated. Honor is a big deal in chivalry, for example.

Yes, of course. I doubt that it will be adhered to by most enemies we're likely to encounter here.

So I take it what you mean is instead -- "no-holds-barred", as they say?

There is more to fighting prowess than strength. The house of Thor seems woefully lacking in that regard.

Exactly. And yet when most think of Norse mythology and warriors, they think of Thor, finding it hard to believe that a goddess of beauty is just as deadly a warrior as he.

[He had personally not been familiar with Norse mythology before coming here, though Arcadia had some remnants of similar mythology. Still, he's been here long enough to research it thoroughly.]

Those in Thor are simply ones who will brandish arms without any semblance of strategy or thought. Mindless violence, no better than animals.

[Cerebella gracefully returns to her feet, as any tumbler should, taking a moment to straighten out her clothes a bit.]

I can to those that have no desire to uphold chivalry or, as I know it, bushido. There are many here that do not possess honor or have any wish to fight 'fairly' against an opponent. There are some that will do whatever it takes to win in a fight. That's not exactly chivalrous.

I'd prefer we not teach my sister to be dishonorable. If she fights, she will do so with honor because that is what we uphold in the North.
