012 ✿ Video+Audio

[It's video when the feed starts up. There's a shock of white hair and bright red eyes peering out from behind a certificate-like piece of paper that she's holding up to the bracelet's camera. Along the bottom it's been signed twice: once in the Asgardian script everybody learns upon arrival, and another time in a language that will be pretty, but a lot less familiar. Both look surprisingly elegant - who knew Euri had good penmanship??]

Here it is, a stupid formality. [Then she quickly switches back over to audio.]

Back home we'd just follow a logical moral code - I dedicate myself to the appropriate acquisition and usage of materials blah blah blah let my ancestors and the god whose domain I utilize rot out my insides and return me to the lands from which we were born should I disgrace them - instead of having to go through useless tests and paperwork to get access to magical plants. I guess this is better than nothing, though.

[After all that her voice turns very, very dry.] It means after this sleeping recipe is finished I can start working on turning you all into frogs like a proper Witch. [That's for you Senji!!]

We have no reason to eat magic. [ As far as she was aware, atavists such as herself weren't beings that survived on magic as a life-force. The very idea was a strange one to her, but one thing was probably in need of clarification. ]

However, we have no control over where or when we will channel our ancestors which is why we are guarded with our own personal personnals, otherwise known as the SS. It’s best that we don’t go out come nightfall for full-fledged demons—youkai—find the scent of our blood to be interesting for it’s the same but not quite the same.

I don’t know about them being a danger to us, but the reason we are assigned the SS in the first place are to do as bodyguards do and that is protecting us. More commonly our SS agents are fellow atavists but stronger ones than the client.

Were you not listening to me earlier...? They protect us from both youkai and atavists who have gone bad. I’m more than capable of looking after myself however despite having my own SS agent.

Think of it this way. [ Pondering on how to go about explaining herself more clearly, she falls quiet for a short while before continuing from where she left off. ] An odour of atavism comes out from us atavists. An odour of existance of something that is similair yet different from them will naturally attract demons.

[ ... ] Do you understand what I’m trying to explain to you?

One could say it fascinates them as opposed to setting them off. If a being existed that was similair yet different from you, wouldn’t you naturally be curious? Because of that, Atavists such as myself are prone to being a target and often attract full-fledged youkai anywhere I go, moreso come nightfall.

Hmph. Obviously.

[ But since arriving in Asgard she hasn’t had to deal with demons being attracted to her so much which was a relief for her but rendered Soushi useless as an SS agent. What purpose did he serve in this world if she wasn’t in need of protecting by beings such as youkai? ]

The situation is altered slightly in this realm though.

[ ‘He must really enjoy having a break here’. For some reason, she couldn’t help but feel guilty over the true fact of the matter in regards to the comment. During his stay here, he was far from having a break from his regular duties. In fact, he was working twice as hard here as he did back home. ]

... I suppose so.

It’s how he defines himself. [ And even to her she felt it was completely absurd that a person would define themselves as their job position. ] I’m more than certain that he isn’t aware of the concept of ‘relaxing’.
