Fifth Catch -Video- [Filtered from Annie Cresta]

[When the video cuts on, Finnick is sitting on his bed with his back against the wall. He's wearing a pair of pajama pants barely visible, but his torso is naked showing off his muscular figure. His head hits the wall behind him with a soft thud as he gives a small grin.]

So, I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Who is actually going to stand up and fight a war that isn't even theirs to fight?

Is it worth it to you all to save some place that you aren't even all that attached to?

[He smiles reaching down beside him, the sound of a paper bag rustling before he holds up his hand which has a single sugar cube between his pointer and thumb. He studies it before popping it into his mouth, and then licking his lips.]

I'm just curious. After all, I have to know who is going to stand beside me when the time comes, right?

[Finnick gives a smile and a small wave.]

I do not seeing it as fighting to save the realm, but rather to save ourselves. I don't much fancy dying in another man's war without at least giving a decent fight.

[ There's a certain amount of amusement in that. He's grown rather fond of Asgard, not that he'll say as much. ]

[Alright! Now here is someone Finnick is going to get along with.]

I hadn't thought of it that way, but I can see what you mean.

[ He smiles just a little. ]

And for what reason might you fight? Hopefully it's not to do with whatever treat you seem to be eating.

There is a person I want to protect. I don't want her to fight, so I'll do more than my fair share to make up for her.

[ Oh! He blinks, pleasantly surprised. ]

That is an honourable cause to be sure, and as good a reason as any.

While sugar is good, I think fighting for her to stay safe is even better than sugar cubes.

[That's an important distinction to make because Finnick loves his sugar. He picks up another sugar cube and pops it into his mouth.]

Also, if I didn't fight and something happened I'd never be able to live with myself.

Though if the gods are to be believed this war should count for something for us too, shouldn't it? They've made it clear it's not just this world under threat after all.

[ Ah, so it's sugar. He knows what that is, okay, Arthur is a learned man. He's even made cookies. /nodnod ]

Asgard should fair well if only for its "guests" stubborn refusal to back down.

That's true. I've seen and met some very stubborn people.

If they destroyed my world, I think I'd be okay with that. Well, Maybe.

Oh? You'd be happy condemning all the other people of your world to death? That's interesting.

Not happy about condemning them, but certainly not sad to see them go. Though not everyone deserves to die.

Yet you'd 'not be sad' to see them die along with the rest? And you think some people do deserve to die? I'll admit I'm a little curious over what led you to this conclusion.

I've found they comprise the vast majority of the population here. I suppose it may be a necessity in some ways; the gods certainly make active efforts to break our spirits.

I don't think it's something anyone else that isn't from our world could understand.

Maybe not. Still, I always have to wonder what makes a person decide they have the right to decide whether or not someone else deserves to live or die.

I don't they have a good chance at breaking me, or the people I know.

[If there was one thing the capitol tested, it was how much you could take mentally.]

That's true. I don't have that right, but neither did the people back home. Everyone would be much better off at peace and out of reach.

I wonder. Do you think 'peace' is something humans are really capable of? That's assuming you and the people of your world are human, of course.

Of course we're human, and I think peace is possible. But that doesn't matter there or here right now, does it?

Your 'of course' seems a little misplaced given our current location and the diversity of the population, don't you think? And I'm not sure I agree with you on the matter of peace; violence - in one form or another - is an inescapable part of human nature and therefore something that can't be left behind quite so easily.

You're right, though. You did ask who else is planning to stand up and fight, and it sounds like you intend to yourself at the very least. As for myself, I suppose I'm undecided. I'm not exactly a warrior.

But, you're not exactly defenseless either.

No, not defenceless. Would they have brought me here if that was the case?

Still, I'm curious over what led you to say that.

I've seen how you talked to a girl from my world. I noticed how you tried to put ideas into her head.

[Annie is his wife, and he does read the conversations.]

Nosy, reading other people's conversations like that.

[Though that's okay; he reads everything that comes up on the network himself, and if he'd wanted to keep the conversation - or his identity - a secret he would have done so]

Though I wouldn't say I was trying to 'put ideas into her head'. I just don't believe in sugar-coating. It doesn't help anyone.
