02 ✼ Video

[Thankfully Annie's awaken back in her own body. She's still very much unnerved by the experience of being trapped in a man's body for a days on end. It's truly not an experience she wants to remember.

She hadn't even been able to function enough to contact Finnick and let him know what was going on. She hadn't wanted him to see her like that. Someone not herself.

She's wandered to the lake, and is pacing back and forth on the water's edge, her eyebrows drawn together as she shakes her head.]

You all said this place was better! They never turned me into a man at the Capitol! How's this place better? [She might be just a little angry on top of unnerved. She'd believed this place was better. Had truly believed it.] Lies. This is not better.

Let's hope so, because sooner or later you're going to have to put those skills to the test whether you like it or not.

Pretty much. We're just disposable chess pieces in their game, I very much doubt our lives or our personal views mean anything to them.

[As a matter of fact, Izaya quite likes it here, but there's no reason to spoil the mood by saying something like that, right?]

Yet sadly that option isn't available to us. At least not unless they get so bored of us they decide we're no longer worth their time and send us back.

[He's pleased to know he's instilled these feelings in you, regardless of what kind of life you have to return to]

That's right, or at least that's what people assume happens to those who disappear.

They can do, sure. Any one of us could disappear at any time, quite without warning. As far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it. Still, the possibility that you could be sent back at the whim of the gods should be comforting, shouldn't it? Seeing as you dislike it here so much.

Unfortunately that's just another thing you don't have any control over, here. It seems like the gods here are just as indifferent towards our interpersonal relationships as they are towards any of our other wants and needs.

Have you ever stopped to consider the feelings of ants? Because that's all we really are to them; small and mindless, clearly so far beneath them as to barely register. Collectively we might have some use and even some significance, but on an individual basis I doubt we mean anything to them at all.

[Isn't he just?]

Oh really? Then in that case, does it really matter if you're here or there?

[But he enjoys your confusion :|]

Ah, perhaps so. Though I suppose whatever conclusion you come to is ultimately irrelevant. You have no choice over whether you stay or leave; the best you can do is accept that you're here and learn to adapt to it, no matter what they decide to subject you to.
