If you were to take loyalties to a king, what kind of king would you want them to be? Would you think better if they were harsh or if they were wise? What sort of person would you lend your allegiances too?

[ It's a general topic. he's curious to hear the opinions of people around him. he seems less rigid than when he first arrived. the break from all the battles has done well on him. he's not uneasy and robb speaks with a warm confidence. ]

No one with power is exempt. Honest people can become corrupt just as much as dishonest people. Power can and will corrupt anything. And no man stays honest once he's in a position of power. It changes them.

There are many honest men who can change that view. When power is given to them, they can do great things with it.

Do you not have any leaders from your realm that you trust?

When you find one capable of that, let me know. And great things aren't necessarily good things, Robb Stark. Remember that before you blind yourself with idealism.

And when do you name a man powerful?

I would tell you of a man that rose to power in another country than mine over fifty years ago, a man named Adolf Hitler, that was powerful, horrible, but also great. He did great things, but they were not good things. My nation allied with him because of his greatness. It did not end well. But you're not from Earth, so it's pointless to go into detail.

And a man makes himself powerful. Just as a woman makes herself powerful. And when no one can challenge them, or ceases to try because of the consequences, then he is powerful.

I am sorry to hear of such things, Milady. If I were to be of some form of charge, I would not let be cruel. Cruelty earns no merits, in the eyes of House Stark. [ a beat, though. Recalling what she had said to separate oneself from his house, and it takes him the barest moment to let that sit. ]

Do you the people have right to complain if they do not challenge a leader they are not fond of?

People always have the right to complain regardless of whether they take up arms or not.

Why would you even want to be a king?

Those are the duties that were given to me. I want to be a good king. To serve the people and make sure everyone is content.

Again, again, Stark, you're still doing everything because of House Stark, and not Robb Stark. Do you honestly want to be king or is it something you believe you should do because you are a Stark?

A Stark is part of who I am. Those are the duties I have to undergo. Do you not know the worth of duty?

Yes, it is a part of you, but you are more than just your family name.

Duty is a crutch for those who are too afraid to think and stand on their own. Duty is a chain that holds a man from what he really wants to do. Duty is a burden only the foolish take onto themselves when it differs from personal beliefs and wishes.

[ If there is anyone in Asgard who realizes what he is. A boy with a crown much to big for him, a crown he does not quite want, but takes because that is what duty calls for - it is Maya. And that unsettles Robb, the fact that Maya is so quick to recognize his faults. ]

Duty is not so loosely given. I do not mean to dodge your words, only I find them difficult to answer. I have led a life sworn to my oaths and I do not what else there is.

Here your oaths mean nothing. Perhaps you should find out who Robb Stark really is and not who he's expected to be.

Expectations are the dreams and failures of the parents, not the reality of the child. A man should do what he, himself, believes in, not what he's been spoon fed his entire life. It's proper to strive to make a parent proud of the child, but a parent will be prouder of the choices a man makes on his own than the ones he's forced into because they are what is expected of him.

I disagree, milady. it is the right of the son to uphold what his father has created. It's the son's duty to ensure what the father has built will last. If a man swears oath, he is worth nothing if he cannot keep it. There are traditions for a reason.

All your doing is refusing to own your own decisions. If the answer to the question 'why' is 'because I am sworn', 'I am bound by', 'it is my duty to as' then you are refusing to take responsibility for your own decisions. Your own choices.

Whereas the loyalty and dedication is a good thing, you shouldn't dedicate yourself to being a fool.
