2. [Text]

[Ever since her meeting with Namine, this has been eating at her. It all goes back to the conversation with Souji, about how little she and her friends knew about the battles and how weirdly the robots behaved, and now - she knows so little that her imagination can run wild, and it's travelled to some disturbing places. Too disturbing to do this over voice of video.]

I have some questions about where you guys come from. If you don't want to answer, it's fine.

Were there worlds within your world? That you could travel between? And did the people in each world know about them?

Y-yes! A hundred years!

[insert 2XX age here; spoken such as T-Two Hundred and "insert numbers here.]

[juuuust going to take a deep breath here, to compose herself again.] I'm actually a half-beast... At least, I used to be, before arriving here. -- Not the feral kind, of course, but it did help my role as a guardian for the village I lived in from time to time.

Not exactly. The hakutaku is more of a spiritual beast than merely an animal.

Hm... Let's just put it this way: when a beast is sentient, capable of thought beyond mere instinct and capable of human speech, you would consider it to be above merely being an animal, wouldn't you?

[personal profile] histories 2011-12-29 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, in this case, the hakutaku is both that and also more of an ethereal being than a physical one. Thus a spiritual beast.

Ah, yes. It appears that I've returned to being merely human for now. It's a good thing I haven't suddenly become as bodily old as I am supposed to be.

Indeed. Should that have happened, I'm sure I would have merely turned to dust!

Well, it's really more a case of having something that should happen once a month never happen any more...

[she blinks at that response for a moment, puzzled, then thinks back on what she just said again...]

["Well, it's really more a case of having something that should happen once a month never happen any more..."

".... something that should happen once a month..."

"... once a month..."

N-No, t-that's not what I was referring to!

N-No, it's alright... [deep breath! calm down, regain your composure...]

[okay, let's explain this properly now.]

You see, I was a were-hakutaku, thus a half-beast. Once a month, every full moon, I'd transform, to gain some of the features of the beast itself, and also have quite a boost in my usual abilities.

But while I'm here, this doesn't happen any longer... which is why I believe I am merely human now.

Well, let's see... I was able to fly, hide and create history, and conjure up energy spheres. [she'll leave out spellcards for now, seeing as they're not exactly her own abilities, but rather an invention and creation of the Hakurei shrine maiden.]

That's right. In essence, it's basically revealing what I have hidden before, rather than truly creating something new altogether. By hiding something the history of a town, for example, I can make it vanish from the eyes of most people, and by 'creating' it again, I will allow it to be seen by others once again.
