[The first thing viewers might notice is Rise's disheveled appearance. Some of her hair's fallen out of her pigtails, her face is smudged with something dark gray (ash, perhaps?), providing a stark contrast with her pale skin.]

U-um, hey guys. [Her voice, normally so chipper, is strained and hoarse.] I think we're going to need some healers ov--[She breaks off, coughing.] O-over here. We're in the castle's courtyard.

[Another coughing fit keeps her from saying anything else, and she simply shuts off the bracelet after the angle gives a good view of the courtyard, occupied by several other people in a similar state.]

(About an hour later, from the hospital):
If anyone's planning to leave the city through the gate, you should be careful. I don't know how far out we were, but we got caught by a group of fire creatures. They were really strong.

[She goes quiet, looking down at her hands.] Oh, and...can anyone tell me if we missed anything while we were gone? Thanks.

(ooc: Rise and a few other campers will probably make their way to the hospital themselves, but feel free to catch her along the way or after the second part. Also, Touya and Hilda will have their own log later for close CR, as might a few other campers, just as a note!

[She'll finish coughing before she answers thinly.]

Same to you. You're not looking much better than the rest of us, mister.

I...I don't know. I think we were missing some people when the gateway opened up.

Is there someone you're looking for? A friend?

[She recognizes him, too, even if she doesn't remember his name.]

Sure, what did you want to know?

You didn't answer my question.

Hey, Kira. [Rise brushes her frizzly hair behind her ear with a bandaged hand.]

Yeah. We woke up in a forest two days ago. Then we got attacked.

[ ... he can't help it. tiny smirk. ] Must be better than I thought, if you can still snark.

Yes. I don't feel much of the pain.

[Just another drop in an ocean of lies. It doesn't feel much better at all, and she's only making it worse with all the stress she's been inflicting on it.

Rather than focus on her own flaws, though, Rise's limp fortunately provides a distraction for her.]

Rather than conversing with me, I advise getting your injuries treated quickly.

[ A nod. ]

I'm a healer. [ To be more precise, her ability is Damage Drain, but she worries that mentioning her power may make others more reluctant to ask her for help. ] I also can get some ointment, ibuprofen, and other supplies. [ In her time at Asgard, she prepared a first aid kit for emergencies. ] How severe are the burns?

Lemme guess: some brat named Baldr sent you out there?

[ Nina arrives at Conan's room, practically stumbling. She just learned from another Traveler that he was being treated for his injuries, and she dashed to the hospital as quickly as she could.

When she appears, she looks weary and exhausted, though the concern is still evident in her expression. There are bandages visible on her arms, hands, and face. Ever since she watched Rise's post on the network, Nina hurried to help heal burns and other wounds, and she didn't fully realize the strain of her power until now. ]

Conan! Are you okay?

[Conan's been healed, but not cleaned, so like Nina he's a mess -- still smeared with ash and dirt, the burnt patch in his t-shirt giving only too clear an idea of just what sort of an injury was under the bandages that the nurses are now helping Conan remove.]

Nina-neechan!

[The nurses step back as Nina approaches, clearly sensing the urgency in her enquiry. He's sitting up on an examination bed, tired but relieved to see another friend.]

[ Seeing the burnt patch nearly overwhelms Nina with sympathy for Conan and ire for the gods. It was horrible enough that they injured Travelers, but it was even worse that they harmed children.

She approaches his examination bed, giving the nurses a grateful look as they part. ]

When I heard you were here, I came as fast as I could. Have you been healed yet? [ It doesn't matter if she's drained of energy. She needs to aid her friends, regardless of the cost to herself. ]

Merlin only just finished seeing me -- ah, but maybe we should call him back! Nina-neechan--

[It's a little creepy, seeing the position of the wounds on Nina and knowing he can picture them almost exactly on their original recipient. Conan swallows.]

Nina-neechan might need some help.

[ At his words, Nina shakes her head and manages to give a small, reassuring smile.

She was startled by the intensity of the pain at first, but the burns and blisters don't hurt as much anymore. In any case, there was no sense in worrying Conan or Merlin. ]

I'm fine. I'm glad Merlin was here for you.

[ After a moment, her smile disappears, as she reflects on everything he was forced to suffer. ]

...I'm so sorry.

Ah--

[The apology catches Conan off guard. He's not sure at first what she has to be sorry about.]

Nina-neechan's got nothing to apologize for.

...You endured so much.

[ She can barely contain the wrath and sorrow rising within her. How could the gods cause all of this misery? She's sickened by their callous actions. ]

I'm sorry you had no choice but to go through this... And I'm sorry I wasn't there. [ Nina recognizes that it was foolish to blame herself when she had no control over what happened, but the helplessness leaves her feeling bitter and numb. If she had been there, she may have been able to protect them... ]

Anything. Appearance, behaviour, how they attacked you. Whatever you can remember.

It might be a good thing Nina-neechan wasn't. The battle -- things happened so quickly ... I don't think any of us were prepared for that.

And Nina-neechan could help a lot of people now, right?

[ Though Nina understands that Conan is trying to encourage her, his words further strain her heart.

The battle... Why did the gods delight in their despair?

Throughout her life, it always felt like she arrived too late, long after the devastation had already occurred. In a way, she was useless, wasn't she? She could never help prevent anything.

Still, she doesn't want to trouble Conan with her thoughts. ]

...Thank you.

Are you sure you feel all right? You don't hurt anywhere?

Not any more. Mostly I'm tired -- I used my power a lot.

[Conan pauses. Trying to weigh up his different sensations is hard.] It still hurts when I think about it -- I think that's in my mind. But -- I used my power until I couldn't use it any more. That's -- I think that's why I'm so tired.

[ An understanding nod.

How can she console him? ]

Should I leave, so you can rest? Or would you like some food first? It may help restore your energy.

Oh... Right, I guess that's not unusual around here at all.

Well, I knew you from before... We're from the same world, actually.

But--Are you okay?

I don't think I could rest, not now. I'm still ... I know it's all right now, but it doesn't feel that way. My body still thinks anything could happen.

[As if on cue -- a stomach rumble.]

[ At the rumble, Nina smiles softly. ]

You should eat. Is there anything I can get you?

[ They can talk more when she returns. ]
