[The first thing viewers might notice is Rise's disheveled appearance. Some of her hair's fallen out of her pigtails, her face is smudged with something dark gray (ash, perhaps?), providing a stark contrast with her pale skin.]

U-um, hey guys. [Her voice, normally so chipper, is strained and hoarse.] I think we're going to need some healers ov--[She breaks off, coughing.] O-over here. We're in the castle's courtyard.

[Another coughing fit keeps her from saying anything else, and she simply shuts off the bracelet after the angle gives a good view of the courtyard, occupied by several other people in a similar state.]


(About an hour later, from the hospital):
If anyone's planning to leave the city through the gate, you should be careful. I don't know how far out we were, but we got caught by a group of fire creatures. They were really strong.

[She goes quiet, looking down at her hands.] Oh, and...can anyone tell me if we missed anything while we were gone? Thanks.


(ooc: Rise and a few other campers will probably make their way to the hospital themselves, but feel free to catch her along the way or after the second part. Also, Touya and Hilda will have their own log later for close CR, as might a few other campers, just as a note!

How can she console him? ]

Should I leave, so you can rest? Or would you like some food first? It may help restore your energy.

I don't think I could rest, not now. I'm still ... I know it's all right now, but it doesn't feel that way. My body still thinks anything could happen.

[As if on cue -- a stomach rumble.]

[ At the rumble, Nina smiles softly. ]

You should eat. Is there anything I can get you?

[ They can talk more when she returns. ]

[Conan's smile is grateful.]

Anything--

[But even that hurts his throat some.] Ah -- maybe something cool?

[forgotthemonster]

[ She nods. ]

Sure. I'll be right back.

[ As promised, Nina returns soon. She's carrying a bowl with five scoops of ice cream: pistachio, chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and orange chocolate chip. ]

Here you go. I hope ice cream's okay.

[Conan's had the chance to wash, change into the hospital clothes the nurses brought him by the time Nina returns. He's even been shifted into a regular room, and is just getting settled as Nina returns.

That's the same--

His expression goes momentarily blank as he registers Nina's choice of ice-cream flavours. Worn down by events as he is, the kindness is almost too much and he has to fight to not give away just how moved he is by the simple gesture. It takes a minute to be sure his voice isn't going to waver but he manages a smile.]

Mm! Icecream's okay!

[ Nina's brow furrows in concern, as she misinterprets Conan's reaction.

The ice cream seemed like a natural choice, especially since that was the only type of food for which Nina knew his preferences. Well, she thought she knew. Maybe that was part of his curse?

Or... perhaps the ice cream reminded him of the curse, which he would rather not remember?

Her expression is apologetic. ]

Are you sure? I'd be happy to bring something else.

[holmes_fanatic]

[Conan shakes his head immediately, holding out his hands for the bowl.]

It means a lot to know Nina-neechan's thinking of me, even in the little things. I -- wasn't expecting it.

[ His words warm Nina's heart. She gives him the bowl. ]

It was no problem.

[Conan decides that his thanks can best be expressed by getting to work on the ice-cream. While his tastes have changed from his really was seven-years-old days, the ice-cream is so soothing on his throat and he is so hungry, that he doesn't mind the sweetness at all.

However, having been almost without food for two and a half days, his stomach isn't used to this and he has to slow down after the first scoop. As he does, it suddenly occurs to him that he doesn't know how the rest of his friends have fared in his absence.]

Ne -- has anything big happened while we were gone?

[forgotthemonster]

[ During her friends' absence, she experienced some sorrowful things involving her past. For a second, there's a subtle sadness in her eyes, and she restrains the impulse to sigh.

Did anything else occur? There was that public taunting from Baldr... However, she doesn't want to mention that now. Conan should concentrate on his recovery.

She shakes her head. ]

Not really.

[holmes_fanatic]

[Eh? Nina's fleeting sadness isn't lost on Conan and for a moment he wonders whether to ask. As she answers in the negative, he reins in his curiousity. She's trying her best not to worry him. He will respect that -- and investigate later.]

Good. I'm glad everyone here was all right ... but you know, the first day, it was kind of fun!

[ Somehow, knowing that the camping trip began as enjoyable further ignites Nina's distress and anger.

Did the gods want her friends to have fun first, before they forced them to suffer so much strife?

This isn't the time for such thoughts, however.

Her smile stays weak, but it doesn't fade. ]

Mm! I picked berries in the woods with Niichan, and when it got dark, we cooked a fish over a fire.

That sounds nice.

[ At least they experienced a little happiness. ]

I missed my other Asgard friends, but I got to know Rise-neechan very well, and Loewe-kun was there, so I wasn't lonely! And I got to talk to a lot of new people too!

[And then see them fight for their lives the very next day.]
