[ anyone passing through thor district may find one (1) lancer making conversation with the resident rude snowman-- where 'conversation' means 'a snowman hurls insults while a knight is polite'. ]

I assure you, snowman, my attire was not meant to offend you. [ but no matter what he says, all he seems to get is more comments on how stupid his armor looks... and his hair, too. ] Nor will dumping snow in my hair prove to be a substantial improvement. If you continue to provoke me needlessly, I will be happy to give you a reason to do so.

[ eventually he lasts the five minutes and recieves his reward: and despite everything previously said, he's sure to thank the icy creation sincerely before leaving with the gift. ]

[ shortly after after passing the snowman's 'test', lancer shows up on the network with a wooden box in hand. curiously, he opens it, pulling out his silver mug and jar of tea. ]

... Has anyone else recieved a gift today? [ he already knows he's not the only one, but he's still curious about the variety. ] Whatever their disposition, I believe these snowmen have good intentions. Whether this is some kind of test I cannot say, though it is probably easier to simply hear them out than to try and argue.

[ a beat, and then-- ]

Saber, would you like some tea? [ there's enough here to share, after all. ]

What made you decide to be a knight?

[ now this is a topic he likes to talk about, even after everything that happened. ]

To honor my lord and land. I have never desired any other path in life, nor could I think of one more suitable.

It is, in a way. [ noooot going to get into the fact it cost him everything once already. ] But to devote oneself to a cause without reason is foolishness. To never stray from your path, you must believe it in completely.

I do. [ despite everything, his resolve had never once wavered. ] In my time, it was common to have such belief in a cause.

Your time? [That's odd - she's heard about people being from different worlds, but nothing about times.]

Indeed. [ well, it's not as if he hasn't given his name away to someone already. talking about it won't hurt. ] Though it's difficult to explain, I lived hundreds of years before many of those in this city.

[Hundreds of years? That's an amount of time nearly impossible for her to grasp, short as her life has been.] Then how are you here now?

[ ... well, it isn't really his place to explain the holy grail war-- and even if it was, he'd have no idea how to put it simply. ]

It's all very complicated, but the details hardly matter. Needless to say, this place has been quite an interesting experience for me so far.

[--Ah. That's kind of a cop out answer, and it's one she's familiar with, herself. That's not to say that she doesn't believe that it is complicated, though, and she has no intention of pressing the issue.]

Okay. I'm sure it has been. Things have really changed then? [She assumes they have, but she's curious.]

It's to be expected, really. [ even though things mostly stayed the same around him back then, change is inevitable. he's just lucky the grail clued him in on most modern things. ] But so long as there are worthy opponents, it will be a pleasure to spend some time in this age as well.
