[When the feed first comes on, Castle's just staring at the communicator, a confused look on his face. After he realizes that it's transmitting, he breaks into a smile.]

Ok, seriously, who's on the other end of this thing? Ryan? Espo? I don't know where I am right now, but this is awesome. Is this a belated birthday present from you guys? Please tell me that if I get to be a Norse god, I get to have a costume as well. Where do I pick that up? The woman was really vague... and kind of creepy if I'm being honest with you.

[Castle laughs.]

House Loki. The trickster. Well played, gentlemen. Well played.

Oh and please tell me I get to keep the bracelet, because this is pretty much the most badass technology I've ever seen in my life.

[As he moves outside of the palace, he's able to look around some more and he realizes that thiiiiiiis is not New York City. One can see the mood change on his face. The laughter is a bit more nervous this time.]

T-This is impressive, you guys. Truly. But um.. where exactly am I? There doesn't seem to be a GPS feature on this thing...

[ There's a beat before she frowns. ]

Have...you heard of it before? The name, I mean. You knew Loki was the trickster god but you had no idea where you even were. Or else you didn't believe the maid. Most people don't believe the maid.

Yes, I've heard of it. Just.. didn't think I was actually here. I didn't know anyone could actually come here. And no, I didn't believe the maid.

[Castle likes this girl. She's... cheerful. And cute.]

I'm Richard Castle, by the way.

Your second name is Castle? That's - wow. I'm Rapunzel. I don't have a second name, granted, but my first is a plant if that counts.

Welllll, technically that's my pen name. I write mystery novels. My real last name is Rodgers but... Castle just sounds so much better, you know?

Nice to meet you, Rapunzel who has no last name. And I've never heard of a plant called that before.

[OOC - He won't fourth wall her unless you want him to lol.]

Oh I've seen mystery novels. There's a whole section of them in the library. Though I haven't really gotten around to reading very much of the fiction yet.

Is...that why you're so calm?

[Castle was pretty calm, mostly because he still thought this was some kind of joke and that Ryan and Espo were going to come around the corner laughing at any second.]

Wait, Rapunzel... you wouldn't happen to have reeeeeally long hair would you?

Huh? [ For her part, she looks over her shoulder to see how much of her hair is visible before hastily spinning around again. ] I -- Yes to both of those questions but -- How did you know? Do I know one of your friends, Mr. Castle?

Uh. Good guesser?

[Because really, how do you tell someone that you know of them because they're a character in a fairy tale? This was getting stranger by the second.]

You might. Kevin Ryan? Javier Esposito? Kate Beckett?

[If he really was in Asgard, at least maybe he wasn't here alone.]

[ She considers a moment before slowly shaking her head. And - well, since he doesn't seem like a ruffian maybe it really was a lucky guess... ]

I don't think I know any of them? But the name Kate Beckett sounds familiar. So I may know someone who knows them! There's kind of a lot of people here. And everyone's pretty connected, I'm learning.

Wait, you know Kate? You've heard her name before?

[Castle's so hopeful that he hasn't been left here alone in some weird place where apparently he has magical powers and fairy tales are real. Not that the idea of that isn't totally awesome, but it'd be even better with Beckett.]

[ Oh. And now she feels guilty for not knowing this person - a woman from the sound of things (Kate - interesting name). So she smiles a soft smile and nods slowly. ]

Is...she a very good friend of yours?

[Castle nods.]

She's my partner.

[His muse. The woman he was in love with. All of that. But he didn't like proclaiming that from the rooftops yet.]

I mean, we're cops. Well, she is. I'm a writer, as I said. I consult.

A writer! [ In her world, this is tantamount to being KING. Cops -- She knows what those are. They're like soldiers. And soldiers are dangerous. ] I can't believe we have a writer here. Wow.

Is that how you...come up with mysteries? Consulting? It seems like it should - be the other way around, you know?

[Oh Rapunzel, Castle is going to love you. He can see Beckett rolling her eyes already.]

My last ten novels were all on the New York Times bestseller list. They're turning my Nikki Heat novels into a movie.

[Not to brag or anything.]

Beckett consults with me more often then she'd care to admit, but generally, no, people don't get ideas for murders from my books. Except that one time.

[That was how he and Beckett had met.]

That one time... [ A little doubt comes into her eyes then but it doesn't last and she shakes her head, giggling despite herself. ]

I meant that... it seems like the police should be helping you. Know what I mean? Inspiring you. Don't writers need inspiration? I know when I write poetry or - or music? I usually do something adventurous with Pascal. Like sliding down the stairs on bags of flour. Then I have new material!

Oh but - if you're from New York that means you come from America right? I wonder if they have your books in the library...

We do need inspiration. That's why the mayor of New York so graciously allowed me to shadow Beckett while she solves her cases. She's my muse, you see. I've written four books about her. Well about a character who's like her, not her technically.

I should hope my books are in the library here. I mean what kind of place would this be...

Uhm one that's in a different dimension? Heh.

What's a muse? And how would giving someone shade help you write books?

[He chuckles.]

A muse is someone or something that inspires creativity in an artist, be that a writer, an actor, a painter, etc.

And "to shadow" is a phrase meaning to follow someone around in order to observe them and learn from them.

Oh wow. [ She melts a little at the poetry of that. ] Those are beautiful words, Mr. Richard. I - I had no idea concepts like that even existed! Or that there were phrases just to describe them? That's amazing.

Kate - your muse - she's...not a violent police officer is she?

[This girl is so innocent that Castle's not even sure what to do with her. Although if he had lived his entire life in a fairy tale he'd probably be innocent too.]

Not generally, no. She does carry a gun though and will use it if she has to. She's... sweet, or at least she is now. She was kind of an ice queen when we met.

[Err, he should probably explain that.]

I mean, she acted cold towards me. Like she didn't like me.

[ That earns him a roll of the eyes - but it's mostly fond,a s is her grin. ]

I know what an ice queen is. Police are like soldiers right? Aren't they supposed to be cold and unfeeling and sadistic?

Not so much in my time. They're supposed to help people. They're mostly mean to bad guys, not every day citizens.

But no one is all bad. [ mimicking something Draco told her here ] Just because you're supposed to do something doesn't...mean you will. [ She was supposed to stay IN after all. ]

The soldiers where I'm from are meant to track down criminals too. But Mother says they'll also prey on whomever crosses them. Like blondes with long hair.

Generally, unless you break the law, you don't have to worry about the police. And even then sometimes things can be.. fudged.
