[The feed turns on and shows Hermione sitting, cross-legged in the middle of the floor. Her eyes are closed and there are...strange markings...surrounding her. For anyone who might know what Ancient Runes look like (or might have taken the class at Hogwarts), the markings will be recognizable.]

[She opens her eyes and sighs. Picking up a piece of paper, she writes down her findings - or lack thereof.]

I would feel much safer if one of these protective charms worked... [But that would require Magic she doesn't have anymore.] I thought I could get around what I lack by writing the symbols upon a physical surface. There are tales of Muggles stumbling across powers they can't control.

[She purses her lips and wipes away the marks.]

Clearly, they are just stories. I thought as much.

I don't think they're all stories. I think some people genuinely have a gift others don't.

Oh yes! Using Runes was part of my training at home. I've never seen any that look like that, though.

Obviously not, but they are gods. They might not think of simple solutions.

To call oneself a god generally implies omniscience.

At least within the realms of making certain their subjects have as little means to defend themselves as possible.

[Of course, he knows why, he was there for that whole fiasco where several people actually got their powers back, but it made it no less annoying.]

Some of it. And those "funny symbols" are called Runes.
