he knew what was going on without having to check or look at the network. because if Touya had been in the other Trainer's position, he too would have asked questions, would have taken somewhere out and alone with his companion. and he knew Hilda would have sought him out. which is why he's making his way over, spying the familiar vast white dragon. he stops once he's close enough to crouch down and reach out. only briefly resting his hand on her arm.]

[ all she needs to feel is the casting shadow to know that he's come to see her. but this might be one of the only times in her life where she would rather be alone. it isn't his fault and she doesn't blame him in the least, but it doesn't help that much.

[ honestly, the landscape still feels very surreal to him. the sheer amount of life in this city never fails to fascinate him, and he's found himself wandering the place ever since his arrival. though gray dominates the scenery, just the fact that the trees here were real, bona fide organic things rather than synthetic substitutes is new and fresh.

it's why he's loitering around the park area when he spots the girl and her dragon.

perhaps it's because of the strange dragon creature, or perhaps it's because of the look on the girl's face that he can't seem to identify. or perhaps it's just simple, plain curiosity, because he approaches, hands in pockets, slouched. ]

[there's a lot still bothering him, most of it surprisingly unrelated to being whisked away to this place again, and N had told touya that he wasn't quite ready to face reality yet, that there were still prerequisite answers he needed to find for himself before going further.

it's purely by chance that he happens by reshiram and hilda, and he doesn't approach them immediately despite staring at them both candidly.

just like that time, just like when the three of them all became tangled together once again. for some reason, N feels less like he drew an unwitting stranger into the same strange fate he seems to draw everyone around him into, and more as if there was something he wasn't to know. it reminds him of long division and quadratic equations and remainders.

quietly, he approaches, kneels before reshiram and reaches out to stroke his head.]

This is a curious place.

In my own world, Reshiram had chosen me. Even if I do not understand the outcome or what is to become of us, I take great solace in knowing we will always be together.

[what reshiram means to him, what touya means to him-- there are some things he just hasn't really thought about because the truth is blinding, dazzling, too much for him to bear. the darkness of his wrongdoings makes that beautiful light a little too painful to look at, but until now, N was alone.

when he looks up, he tries to catch hilda's gaze, his own lifeless eyes curious and callow.]

Just who are you?

[N wants to know, doesn't want the truth hidden from him-- but the gnarled black mess in his chest isn't in it enough to force the information out of the girl as he normally would.]

[ in her daze, she doesn't know he's approaching until she can hear his footsteps in the grass. when she does she prepares to slink back... but doesn't. why should she need to? the worst that could happen already did - from his perspective there was no history between them, nothing to dwell upon.

she missed that.

she does move her hand when he begins to pet Reshiram, who eases into the man's touch as if he knows who he is. she stays silent, opting to listen until he asks her that one question she's been dreading.

she looks back into his eyes with her blue ones, trying her best to not look crushed. ]
