[ having been in asgard for a little under a week, syaoran had been busy getting to know the area and finding out what he could. while he was generally resourceful, there were limits to everything.

so that's what brings him to make a post. he'd do a text if he could figure out how, but for now he'll just deal with video. ]

How long have you been here for?

[ there's a short pause on his end, before he adds in another question. ]

And how long have the people you've known stayed?

[ oh, there. that wasn't so bad! shutting the feed almost instantaneously, there wasn't anything else that he could really add—before he sets out of his house to do some more exploring of the city. syaoran will practically be everywhere during the morning and afternoon, observing both the area and the people around him. it might be a little odd and unnerving at first, but it doesn't take long for him to move onto the next thing if there's nothing stopping him from doing so. everything is totally normal about this, honestly! ]

If you're talking about people from my world, then yeah. No one's showed up yet, no one I know. But I'm not alone here anymore.

Everyone's in the same situation. [ nonchalant. he'd say more, if he knew what to exactly... ]

How do you mean? [It's just vague enough that it could relate to any number of things about their situation.]

Being stuck here. [ meaning, no one was really alone.

That's true... we are all in the same boat. You can find other things in common with people, though, once you start getting to know them. Sometimes surprising things.

[Which reminds her of Minato. But she doesn't let her sadness at his disappearance show, keeping her expression positive.]

[ syaoran's not so much of a sociable person, so there's not much he can add or say to that. ]

Yeah. Could be worse.

It's far from perfect, but it could be a lot worse. It's not that hard for people like us to get by.

[Self-sufficient kids, she means. Dodging well-meaning adults tends to be the biggest pitfall.]

—"People like us"?

Young people who can take care of themselves. [She smiles a little, omitting 'kids' from her outer statement because she doesn't like the word much either.]

There isn't much of a difference.

[ or rather, there shouldn't be. ]

Between us and the adults. [ he is -- totally not a kid. ]

If you grow up fast enough, no, there doesn't have to be. [Her smile fades a little, as her mind wanders to why he's so mature. She hopes it isn't a tragic story.] A lot of them won't see it that way, though. A lot of people will ask if your parents are here, or try to take their place.

[ no unfortunate story here, luckily! just a case of growing up a little too fast. ]

Speaking from experience?

Yeah. I've had some adults get mad when I said I could take care of myself. I think some of them just aren't used to younger people who can.

They probably had kids back at home. [ or something along those lines. if all adults did were smother though -- where would that leave room to learn how to be self-sufficient? ]

... There's a whole variety of people here. [ people who knew how to take care of themselves, people who didn't. just by walking around daily, syaoran could tell these things himself. ]

So it's normal to be mistaken every now and then, I suppose. [ for someone who couldn't function by themselves. as calmly he was talking about it, it was something that quite easily set off his temper. ]

Yeah... some people just think that all kids are innocent, so they need to be protected. [Her expression darkens a bit. They don't know what "kids" can have to go through.]

[ there's a distinct beat, before he speaks up again. ]

—are you all right?

Oh - yeah, I'm fine. [She forces a half-genuine smile.] It's just funny, the assumptions people make based on age. Like a young person couldn't have a hard life.

[ he's really -- not quite sure what to say to this. though he does manage to nod when she says she's fine.

he's quiet, and thinking. ] Everyone has the capability to underestimate, though.

[ he knows that he's done so a handful of times, that was for certain. ] It's just a matter of proving them otherwise.

[She nods thoughtfully.]

You're not just self-sufficient. You're really mature, too.

[ . . . oh, a compliment. ]

[ but really, he's not quite sure what to say back. ]

[She smiles. She knows that awkwardness around compliments, even if her own reaction is usually more vocal - sputtering and half-thanking, half-rejecting.]
