Ne -- I was thinking! I've heard a lot of people wondering why we were here -- not the reason in the letter. Why us and not anyone else! So that got me thinking -- maybe we'll find out the answer sooner if we ask questions to a lot of people at once!

I have not yet met one, so they are indeed difficult to find, at least for me. [Sigh.] I will also keep looking, I suppose.

The continent of my home is composed mostly of kingdoms, so yes, I would say the royalty is pretty important.

I figured I should try and find out about that too -- why they split us up instead of keeping us all together.

That seems like you had a lot to do! When you waited on Her Highness, did you have to help with important state things?

It does seem to be a strangely complicated system. Perhaps they simply didn't have somewhere large enough to house everyone.

It was a busy job, yes. I had pretty much nothing to do with state affairs, however.

Not necessarily -- there's still that group of us that are only peripherally important because of who we know! So far I'm not sure why they'd choose us when they could choose those people themselves, but that might become clear in time!

Well, it would certainly be an interesting city if only royalty and other highly-placed people were here.

Ah.

A detective is someone who pieces together clues to solve the mysteries that other people can't -- Mouri-ojisan often assists the Tokyo Police on cases that leave them stumped! And -- I'm not officially an assistant ... I'm still in elementary school! ... but I go with him on cases, and sometimes I find things that no one noticed that turn out to be really important!

I see -- an aid to the law. It does sound like an exciting job, though we don't have such a position where I come from. [Though... it's actually gathering information, isn't it? A little like a spy -- like Mariam, though this kid's role is probably closer to Ney's.]

You may not be an official assistant, but it seems like you're still able to be of use. I'll look forward to the results of your investigation.
