Ah--is it working now? Yes? Good.

[Though curt, the speaker retains just enough politeness in his voice to pass as "approachable". The image suddenly turns, giving everyone a good look at the owner of the bracelet: a man wearing a peculiar body suit. Worry and frustration hardens the lines of his face.]

If anyone is hearing this--or seeing this, I suppose, as this device is apparently capable of transmitting video recordings as well as sound--I would like to have a few things clarifed. The maid has already helpfully informed me of the basics, but was unwilling to tell me much else.

Am I to understand that every single person brought here is expected to stay in this city for an indefinite amount of time? And that everyone has been given an ability of some sort?

[Charles stops, taking a breath.] My name is Charles Xavier. If anyone could answer my questions as well as disclosing the specifics, I would be most grateful.

I don't suppose he bothered to introduce himself? Well, no matter. What's important is the content of the message.

I think he expected us to know who he was. I dunno, I'm in Freya's house and he wasn't her.

Essentially what you're saying is this--and do correct me if I'm wrong: It was relatively peaceful when the first captives were brought here, a dragon came and attacked the city recently, and then one of the gods provided some sort of explanation.

What has the general reaction been?

That about sums it up, yeah. Everyone's actually been pretty calm about the whole thing? People are organizing stuff and talking about training.

[Surprisingly. Charles almost expected to hear that they'd been panicking, and he wouldn't blame them. Being spirited away from your home, only to fight in some war? Not really things you'd see in day-to-day life.]

If anything's to be said, the gods chose well, at least. What sort of things have people been organising?

Training, mostly, and figuring out weapons and stuff. Oh! And there was something called a census a day or two ago, where they asked us all these questions about where we're from and stuff.

Really, a census? [Colour him all sorts of impressed. This is a lot more than he expected in organisation.] How long has it been since the first group of captives arrived here?

[She glances down, counting]

Two or three months? Give or take a week.

In for the long haul, then. This could potentially be a problem.

No kidding.

[She sighs, but looks up again, smiling]

I'm Rikku, by the way!

We've been taken out of time and our worlds, yes? We'll just have to hope the events of our worlds are not affected by our absence in the meantime.

A pleasure, Rikku, despite the circumstances.

[that reminds her. She giggles nervously]

Well...according to the old guy, uh....if this place falls? Everywhere else is gonna fall, too. My world, your world, everyone's world.

They didn't think to mention that before, did they?

So, essentially, what the god implied was that all worlds are linked to this one, and that this world's fate decides all.

Would it be too much to hope that the earlier captives have found some way of checking on their worlds?

I have no idea. I think people are trying.

In other words: no luck as of yet.

With so many people taken from their lives, I cannot be the only one who had been in the middle of something urgent.

If they'd grabbed me two minutes sooner, I'd've been in the middle of saving Spira again.

So you were important to your world. [Very important if she's saved her home twice already.]

Take some comfort in knowing that you accomplished what you were hoping to before they brought you here, then.
