[John is standing near his new "house", fiddling with his bracelet. He's taken everything he's heard and let it sink in before finally seeing what this bracelet can do. He's familiar enough with smartphones and webcams that he gets the hang of it fairly quickly.

His eyes glance over his shoulder to Loki house, then back to the camera. He gives his audience a charming smile]

Can someone please explain to me why Loki's colors have to be orange? I know we serve under the god of mischief, but do we have to look so tacky doing it?

[There's a nonchalant shrug that can be heard in his voice.]

Couple weeks or so? Not very long.

Hm. Seen any battles yet?

No, but I've seen the aftermath. And Elena has.

[He wasn't there for that or he likes to believe he would have stopped her. Elena wouldn't have let him. Damon didn't know she was going until she was gone.]

Of course she has. [such an odd mix of pride and frustration. He wishes Elena could stay out of messes, but he is also a bit pleased that she still goes into them anyway]

[Yeah, Stefan is less pleased considering she died, but he won't share that secret quite yet. That's Elena's to tell.]

She's a bit relentless in that respect. I wonder where she gets it from.

From her family, of course.

[he says "family" to include Grayson and his wife, Jenna, and even Alaric. Personal feelings aside, Ric is technically Elena's stepfather. So family]

[Uh-huh.]

I'm sure.

[But there are some parts of her that should never be attributed to John, ever, so Stefan is just going to continue to make a face that John can't see.]

Well, enjoy Loki. I'm sure Damon will be finding you soon.

Oh, I'm sure he will. Salvatores and Gilberts, can't seem to keep our two families apart for long.

Oh, no, they usually don't. In fact, Elena's right across the hall from me.

Elena was claimed by Hel? [that... doesn't surprise him nearly as much as it should. The girl's been near death quite a lot. Both her own and other people's]

Then I know where to go when I want to see her.

They're clear. [he may just choose to ignore them, that's all]
