The curse you experienced was not our doing as I know many of you have guessed. None of us wanted this and none of us schemed to bring it into fruition.

It was not the doing of the giants either; for no giant, not even Thiazi is able to wield such power. It is thankfully entirely beyond their abilities.

[ she releases a breath and then continues. ]

We think it was Freya. She is the only one strong enough to formulate such a plan. We heard her screams, we know her heart is full of anger. We believe that in her anger, she had struck the city with this curse without much prior thought and so the results were as grave as they were.

[ a moment of silence. ]

I must ask you, find the strength in your heart and do not think of her too harshly. Whatever Freya did, she did out of grief, out of despair and out of a terrible loss. She is mad with grief and in her madness, she had done a deed that is cruel and reckless.

But I will ask you to show her compassion all the same.

He's lost a brother before. It tore a piece of his soul out, living every single day without Dean. It's difficult to imagine life truly without him, but Sam managed. Sam went on. Keep calm and carry on, because you have to. Because life is not meant to be wasted with anger and hatred. Sam tried it that way; it failed. And it killed a lot of people.

Life is too precious to waste with grief. It just is. And the fact that Freya not only lost herself in grief but tortured them all with it is something Sam isn't going to forgive very easily.]

You can commit murder out of grief and loss and it would still be murder. What she inflicted upon all of us was tantamount to torture -- and if you guys can't control her, then we're going to have to figure out a way how.

Still, she had to wonder at how upset she would be knowing that her sister had died and that there was a way to save her yet she couldn't do it. She'd feel just as helpless, just as frustrated and angry. Alice pulled at her fingers and bit her lip. She didn't know how to address this goddess. But she did want a question answered before she asked anything else.]

[Surprisingly, this strikes a chord close to home for Saki. She'd been spared here, but back home she did all she could to find the people she loved. First Shun, then her sibling's information, and then Maria and Mamoru. She'd lost so many people she loved and could barely remember most of them, she knew it was enough to drive people.

Hell, she'd had odd dreams. Dreams where things were not as they should be. Shun speaking to her, the strange, faceless boy telling her Maria must die. Her heart had shattered just before coming here. It would never repair, she knew. Not until those memories were returned to her, and maybe not even then. Two loves lost...

She knew the feeling quite well.

Still, her heart reached out to those who were inflicted with the dreams. She'd been spared, in sorts, if only because the nightmares she dreamed she'd been having regularly already. She let out a breath.]

People won't understand it. The emotions that come from losing someone like that... Not everyone feels the same. [She pauses, uncertain.]

Is there anything we can do for the future? I understand why it happened, but we can't let her be in pain any longer if we can help it.

No we cannot. We will strive to do what the Travelers have chosen as the path to handle Freya, to save Freyr, restore him and hope that when her brother shall return, Freya will also return to her senses.

Kin is kin, and I can't say I blame her for lashing out. It's easy enough to do things one may regret in that sort of situation.

All I'd like to know is that there's some sort of contingency should the current task be accomplished but fail to fix this up. I trust that possibility's been taken into account, and pardon me for not quite keeping faith that it will work out-- but in my own experience, reunions can't always be counted upon to go as expected.
