4 Little Ghosts ☠ Video

[The feed turns on to Norman sitting inside of Hel's Welcome Hall's lounge  with his long red scarf wrapped around his neck and a destroyed book on his lap. He's got a slightly nervous smile on, and his hands rub together in a worried manner before strumming along the book.]

Soooooo....who wants to talk about the afterlife?

[Yup, Norman's doing this. That's right, Asgard. There's a 11 year old who wants to talk about death. Although that wasn't the best way to start off this video, and he has to take a deep breath before continuing.]

I'm not actually talking about religious views, but what do you think happens when you die? Uh, I guess religious stuff works too if you really want to talk about that. I've heard a few things about how death works in different worlds, so I thought it would be interesting to hear from more people.

Also, I thought it would be good to talk about it since a lot of people seem to want to help get Freyr back. [Just going to add some not-bizarre reasoning to this.]

So yeah, if you want to say anything, go ahead. If you want to talk about it privately, you can put up a filter. [A pause.] And...if your world has ghosts or you believe in ghosts, that would be great to hear about too.

In my would, when humans die, their souls go either to the White realm of Heaven or the Red realm of the Pit, depending on their deeds in life. I can't say I know what they do there, though.

[similar but not exact! the color bit is relevant]

They go back to the realms from which they were born, I expect. The ones who are specific, at least. But I'm not actually sure if all animals have anything like a soul.

Ah, there are beings who are associated with specific realms of power. Dragons are of the Purple realm, unicorns from the Onyx. There are some who look like people from the Onyx as well, but they are Elder creatures, like the unicorn.

Not everything has a soul, where I am from.

[well, at least he believed her. that's better than a lot of people.]

If they have one, yes, I think that's more or less how it goes. But it's not as though there's a unicorn afterlife and a dragon afterlife, I don't think. Realms are...complicated.

[she shudders a little, thinking of the realm she had only just glimpsed]

They're places and not places. We're not made to comprehend them fully, I don't think.

You've seen the afterlife? I didn't think one could come back from such things.

I wonder if we have ghosts. Certainly, I haven't sensed one, but that doesn't mean they aren't there.

Ah, I see. I take it that's not a particularly common ability where you are from.

I don't know about ghosts, but two if my brothers have shoulder angels and devils. There was a nest in the cellar. The rest of us can't see them, but I certainly believe they are there.

[talking to ghosts is pretty close to the bottom of the weirdness scale for sophie. people who live without any magic at all are vastly weirder.]

Are they just...people, then? Or animals, too, I suppose.

They sit on their shoulders and advise them. Except I gather that sometimes it is rather difficult to tell which is which.

...those all sound like good reasons. Are they friendly then, these ghosts? Or as variable as people?

[sophie's last name is gargamel. as in the smurf-hunting gargamel. comedy tv turned serious is in many respects her life]

Oh, they speak to them all the time, I think. But I don't think they'd ask them to leave.
hollowchild: (something like a pain that won't go away)

Changed them?

[she tilts her head]

Perhaps they can be annoying. But it is also perhaps better than being alone and without counsel.

...I'm not sure it's easy for people to let that go when they're alive, either.

Yes, I think that's how it is. It's a bit difficult to tell from outside it.
hollowchild: (there are words that are fading)

Probably more, if you can't do much about it.
