I... I don't understand...

[The small, slender Japanese girl with the high ponytail and downtilted eyes might be familiar to some. She's standing in front of Heimdall House with a newcomer's letter in her hands, dressed in the same uniform as the first time she arrived, but it doesn't quite fit right anymore - she's gotten taller since she made it, started to fill out a little. At least in Asgard, which proves that she hasn't been completely reset.

The confusion on her face starts to contort into alarm as her words confirm that truth.]

Isn't - it over? I remember Freyr - when he - wasn't that the end? But now it's like none of it ever happened... the letter, and the maid, and everything looks just like the first time...

[And now edging into panic as she leans against one of the house's walls, wrapping her arms around her middle and shivering.]

What's going on?!

[Trying not to start crying again, oh God in these weeks she has been far more openly emotional and tearful than she usually is. ~~Between you and Nanako you'll kill her one of these days!~~.

But this time, she manages to calm down. And she's smiling (albeit little weakly) when she's ready to reply]

Hi, Mariko. [She smiles, still as shy as ever with the beautiful, elegant girl.] I guess I kind of gave everyone a scare, didn't I?

[She's beautiful and elegant but still has her issues and is as human as you... but she's now too freaking joyful because you're back, you're back, you're back...]

More than a scare, for sure! I can only speak for myself, but that was intense enough from my part.

I'm really sorry. [She hangs her head.] I never would've made an announcement like that if I knew how things were going to happen... it wasn't the right way to say goodbye, but I really did think that we were all leaving.

[She lets out a sigh to not start crying in front of her, that's not what they need.] Nakama-san, please don't blame yourself! If not like you were the only one, either, you had good reason to believe such things. And what matters is that you're here, and you're alive too!

[Her bottom lip quivers a little, but she manages a smile.]

I must be part cat or something. Six lives left.

Well, I'd like to help you keep a good hold on your six remaining lives. [And her smile is a little wider.] And to start, maybe we should meet up! Where are you, to start?

That sounds good. [Her own smile broadens as well.] I'm at the Heimdall House right now, but I can meet you somewhere if you want.

I will go there, don't worry! In around one hour, we'll be seeing each other in person.

Okay. [She nods.] That'll give me time to get changed and stuff, so that's good. I'll be in the living room, right past the entrance.

Good. See you later, Nakama-san! I won't fail!

[And like she promised, around an hour later a girl with long black hair and red lips is stepping inside the Heimdall House, sighing and looking around for the friend she had found again...]

[Nakama stands up from the couch, now wearing the simple jeans and sweaters offered by the God House closets. Despite the cold, she wishes she could have one of the beautiful dresses she used to own for this meeting; she's let her hair down, anyway, and finger-combed it to be as shiny as possible.]

Hi, Mariko. [She looks as shy as ever, but happy.]

[And Mariko doesn't care! She normally would at least make comments about such things, but this is special. Because she thought she had lost Nakama forever, and right after such hard days... but she was wrong, and she was so glad.

Here Nakama, have a hug from an overjoyed Mariko. But at least she isn't crying.] Nakama-san! I'm so glad to see you're okay, after all!
