Look, I'm just going to be honest for a minute here.

What makes you people trust each other? I've been here for a couple months and I've run into nothing but people that put their faith in people blindly. It's just... it's kind of disturbing! Are you all idiots, or something?

[ Woah, take it easy, Painwheel. Deep breaths, you know there's no reason to yell at anyone... ]

All I'm saying is that if you trust a lot of people and make friends easily, you should step back and be a little more careful. With so many people here, there are bound to be some people who aren't so trustworthy, alright?

[ And with that, she's done. Way to blatantly mask your own insecurities, Carol. ]

Personally? I think a lot of them are naive idiots, and pushy ones who won't give up on the idea that we should all get along because we're all stuck in this together. So far, I don't trust many of them. A couple have done things that haven't destroyed trust when they could have done it easily, so I'm willing to trust them a little.

But me and trust, we don't see eye to eye too easy. Someone else mentioned 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend.' For me, that's bunk. It's just the enemy of my enemy. There's no use pretending it's something it isn't.

You and I both know even the 'nice' people in this place can't always be trusted to be safe.

[grunt] You could always try my other half's method of enlightening people, but I think we both would agree that's not such a bad idea. Really, I think the ones who are naive and stubborn about it are going to stay that way. It's in their nature. I used to be like that when it was just mom and me. Really, probably would have stayed that way if it weren't for my Dad getting involved eventually.

Screw frustrations, you want to go do something sometime?

[As much as Painwheel was just a little terrifying to look at at times, and the two hadn't gotten started off on the best of feet, the fact was that the two of them at least shared a few attitudes. It helped talking.]

I'm probably getting moved out pretty quick, over to Loki, and you're definitely one of the more tolerable folks over in Hel. It isn't like we trust each other, but that doesn't stop grabbing a bite somewhere.

[It was random for Samantha, but honestly it had more to do with a fit of boredom than anything else, really. So, it probably wasn't something to think too deeply on.]

I'm actually a pretty damned cook in my opinion, but I don't have everything I like just yet. And, yeah, working on getting one of those cheap apartments they've got around the district.

Heh. It was just me and mom for most of my life, so I kind of had to learn. She wasn't always able to cook anyway. And yeah, the privacy's definitely the goal here. Most of the folks in Hel don't make me want to kick teeth in, most of them at least, but I'm more a private person. When you live alone with your mom all your life, it's hard to spend time around forty other people easily.

I could kind of see that for you. It's not really like Hel House isn't a seriously creepy place to live at times. Just don't try the 'living on the streets' routine. That gets real old, real fast.

Yeah, pretty much the same here. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. Not exactly my cup of tea either.

It depends a lot on who's ruining my privacy and how much I don't trust them for me, but in this place I don't think I like the odds living on the streets so much. Too much we don't know.

Somehow, if I'm being really honest, I'm not surprised by that. You look like the sort that doesn't have a whole lot to be afraid of.

One of the upsides is that they also stay away. It makes some of our mutual concerns a lot simpler.

Tell me about it. You tell folks "I'm going to chop your head off if you're not careful" and they come looking for you for a hug. I'm still trying to figure out if they're all collectively nuts.

Six of one, half dozen of another right now. Hard to tell the difference between one possibility or another, if I'm being really honest.

yep. It's another way of saying "Same difference." Old phrase they use where I come from when you can't really tell a big difference between two things.

Must turns of phrase are. Colorful language is odd that way.
