It seems I missed quite a bit of excitement in my absence. The city is certainly a much brighter place now, so I trust that everything went well in the fighting.
Regardless, I think I am returned for the foreseeable future now. If there are those who wish to regale tales of the battlefield I would be glad to hear of them, someone should write an account down and I would not mind the work.
[Ignoring the fact that he's now technically dead? Of course Giovanni is. He doesn't want to bring the mood down after all.]

Re: text
There is a baker over in Hel's district that does an excellent breakfast bread and fruit pastry I'd you want my recommendation.
[Okay then, he will send you all over town to buy some time.]

you have been sorely missed
i will get us some of those and some coffee and be over as soon as i can
[Still, all over town might not be enough. Yusuf is pretty fast...]

[It'll be enough to at least get some sort of composure back together after... everything.]
[Action]
But though Giovanni's breath had caught for an instant right after the bruises began appearing on the elder Assassin's neck it started back up again almost as quickly. He had seemed fairly steady all things considered.
Unlike Leonardo when he walked into the back room with his tea things planning on having his lunch where he could keep better watch over his guest only to find the man sitting up as if nothing had happened at all. ]
You're alive?!
[The tray rattled in his hands before quickly being set aside on the table. Alive, no. This had not been what he meant to say at all! Very smoothly done...]
I mean awake? You were asleep for nearly an entire month! I was beginning to worry about you.
Re: [Action]
I am alive here anyway, back home however... is a rather different story.
...does Ezio know about... this?
[He gestured at the bruising, a faint frown growing between his eyebrows.]

It had been years since the Auditore Family treason hanging but he could still remember the desperate lost look in Ezio's eyes when he had come to him for help. Would he take the news of this as hard now as he had then?
Stepping into the room Leonardo pulled up a chair to sit in, finding this tragic situation needed more care than a simple shake of the head could give it.]
He and most of Asgard went on a mission to defeat Thiazi once and for all. I...
[From here the bruising really stood out, dark purple against the lighter white of the sheets. ]
I thought about sending him a message but with the war it seemed better to wait until he returned. So you... remember what happened?

[It's better this way, he has time to regain his equilibrium with fewer people to push him in to answering too many questions too soon.]
It is likely better he was not distracted by it, battles are not easy things to keep track of and being worried about what was happening here would have only added to it.
[HE tries to sigh, but the gesture gets only a rough cough that has him squeezing his eyes shut briefly in pain.]
Yes, Leonardo, and it is not I thing Ezio should be reminded of by the sight of me. Not in the light of victory or the tragedy of failing such a task as he has gone to do.

[Leonardo was back at the tea things in a second, pouring a small cup of the warm liquid from the pot into a tea cup. Tea could be healing... though how well it would work against a hanging injury he had no idea, but when he returned the warm bre was held out for Giovanni to take.]
Here this might help with the cough.

I will, when the right time comes. I do not know if I can yet look at him without hearing him yell as he watched that betrayal.
He was so young Leonardo.
[His grip tightens on the cup briefly, and he takes a sip of warmth.]
And Maria, it takes her so long to recover.

[He spoke quietly as he recovered his chair, even the sound of the wooden legs scraping across the floor might have been louder than his words. ]
He came to my workshop not long after it happened. I think it takes them all a long time to recover...
[His voice grew more firm but lost none of the deep compassion it held.]
But, they do recover. They are a strong tight knit family, they pull through these things together.

[He brought a hand up to rub at his face briefly.]
They made it to safety though, so I should not complain too much.

[Leonardo held up his arm as if it were the blade itself indicating just where the piece had been broken, not at the very tip where one might expect a sword to crack but closer to the middle of the weapon. ]
It looked like it had been hit with a great deal of force to cause it to break where it had but Ezio had a codex page with him and once that was translated I was able to put it back in working order for him. I had always wondered what had happened to it.
[He smiled faintly then, remembering the little prank he had pulled after the repair with the kind of fondness only the distance of years could bring. It had been ages since he had seen Ezio so surprised!]
As you correctly assume I knew nothing of the assassins then. I was helping them, unknowingly, but looking back on it... I think Paola might have sent him to me for this repair. It was only later that I actually learned who and what the assassins really were. And then I simply continued helping. Not because I was an assassin but because Ezio was a friend.
[The artist did love to talk but when Giovanni made the move to rub at his face the flood of chattering finally came to an end. ]
Could you use anything else? I could send a boy back to your room for a change of clothes?
text; ack assume this came in after he finished with his part in the battle/journey
Are you well?
[Because he has at least an idea of how little time Giovanni had left.]
text; seems legit!
Was your trip a success?
[Barely a few days, not enough to do anything even if he had begun to see danger looming on the horizon let alone prevent it from passing. It isn't quite something he's prepared to share the gritty details on, even with Altaïr.]

Re: text;
I trust that most have returned safely, do those who did not need to be seen to?
text;
Most are well, I think.
Re: text;
That is a relief, If anyone needs to be sat on to stay in bed I can certainly help if need be.

[ That's all you need to know. ]

I doubt it was quite that simple, what part did you play?

The muscle. We took on the biggest and baddest.
