Now.. how does.. [ beep. ] Uh...
God-damn-it!
Okay -- Hullo? [ He's got the audio working again! ]
Look, if you can hear me.. anyone.. My name's DeWitt, listen.. I don't know what kind of business this place thinks I can handle but this whole fighting a war of the gods and energy sharing thing isn't really something I'm familiar with.
Now.. [ beep; Booker accidentally activated the video function and Asgard gets a quick view of his 1910s brown shoes. The broadcast was soon back on audio only. ] If someone could just.. give me a few pointers I'd be appreciative.

[One has to know what he's managed before getting to the rest of it. And one must tread rather carefully; he doesn't seem to remember that he's been here before.]

Hel house, guess I can expect a warm welcome.

I'm Evelyn O'Connell. I'm afraid I might have some surprising news for you, Mr. DeWitt.

{ action} ; cont. from test drive w/ some adjustments
Booker blinked dumbly at Elizabeth. His mind was a little foggy from the awing newness of this place, its people, and of course the gods that ran this town. But before him, in the midst of this, was a girl dancing and hugging herself around a tree. His lip curled up and soon he wrapped his lips around a fresh cigarette.
I've never seen a tree from this angle.
He played with her words in his mind a moment before softly nodded. He was then sure of something he wasn't even considering before. This girl was one of those special minded people. Someone that wasn't all the way home, maybe one foot in and another foot out of her mind. Acknowledging that gave him a greater comfort than he'd had so far in being aroudn this girl.
"Yeah, all sorts of different sights depending on the angle you're looking." There, he thought, this was as tolerable and kind as he could be.

"It's so strange finally being out. I had thought I would be one day, but that day would come in the form of my being free to explore Columbia, not some whole new place like this." She was still staring at the cigarette and Booker's mouth.
"May I try? I understand smoking is very popular in France as well as the States below Columbia." Elizabeth did think it smelled awful and while she couldn't imagine it tasted any better, now that she was free to explore everything she could, she wanted to do just that.

But he was beginning to worry. First her comment about a silly little songbird keeping her locked up in a tower, the fact she was hugging a tree, and that she obviously was kept locked up someplace tight was all very concerning. Ultimately he was soon considering his original contract. It could be her simplicity with a shadow of complexity was due to her being some royal member, maybe a princess for the sake of being cliche, and kept imprisoned abroad and truly ignorant of civilization.
"This tower of yours.. you never left it? Where were you before it?"

Then the cigarette was brought to her lips again and she inhaled from it this time, getting the smoke down into her lungs. She gave a few soft coughs as she handed the cigarette back to Booker. "That is very distasteful, it must take some acclimating." Though why someone would make themselves get used to it she could only make assumptions about.
As for the questions, those too left distaste over her. Elizabeth coughed a few more times into the back of her hand and looked away. She was thinking about all the doctors that tested her and watched her all the time. Very distasteful. Elizabeth shook her head. "I about have had my share of doctors, Mr. DeWitt. They kept me locked in that tower my entire life and I don't plan on ever going back. They'd have to kill me first."
Elizabeth looked back up to him, giving a melancholy smile. "I don't think I was anywhere before, or if I was, I was too little to remember it. "

I can help though! My name is Alice Liddell, I'm part of the welcome committee! It's my job to help!
{ audio }
Oh.. ah, hullo there. [ I can't remember the last time I had a conversation with a child.. where's your adult? ] Well, reckon you got a clue or two about what I need help with.. right?
[Audio]
To start, do you know which god you're linked to? If not, just tell me the color of the stone in your bracelet.
{ audio }
I'm also going to be working the City Patrol. [ He glanced back to the bracelet and held his breath before huffing. ] You know what kind of trouble I might run into? I mean.. what or who would I be potentially protecting the city streets from?

My name is Maribelle. What sort of advise are you looking for, precisely?
{ audio }
Well - [ Carried out with a sigh. ] - the kind that gets me on the next train home. But something more doable; what kind of lifestyle am I looking at here? Is this place full of constant fighting, or is it suburb living? Which one should I expect?
no subject
Truthfully, it's both. We mostly live normal enough lives, I suppose - or as normal as one might expect under the circumstances, at least. However, there is usually trouble to be found, in one form or another.
{ audio }
[ Only just past the fact that this was all entirely unbelievable. Being here, the gods, the war, the life.. just what did he get himself into. ]
Can I ask you how it is you got here? I mean.. I don't remember coming here myself but I guess it could be because I was knocked out.. or.. I don't know, I just can't buy the sudden arrival thing. [ He could have been drugged... he sure as hell couldn't quite remember how he got on the boat either.. ]

[Voice]
[The voice is young, a little bit excited, but- well. Definite recognition, until she realizes that Booker is definitely not remembering this place, which means he won't remember her or Joel.
There is a somewhat awkward pause as she catches her breath, then tries gamely to push onward.]
I mean, hey. I'm- Ellie.
{ audio }
Yeah, he definitely caught that.
It doesn't take him too long to respond but when he does it's evident in his tone that he's unsure of this: ]
Ellie.. hi.. [ The left corner of his lips purse, causing a fat dimple to crater between his cheek and chin. Then he huffs softly before: ] So, we met then?
{ audio }
[He'll almost be able to hear her shoulders jerking upwards, the verbal shrug.]
You helped us out. It's the kind of thing you remember.
