( it's fairly obvious to anyone who knows her that irene is not her usual serene self. she hasn't bothered with her hair today; it's down, rather than elegantly coiffed, and even her makeup seems a touch off (though by most standards, it's still something approaching perfect). still, is it any wonder? the last few days have been trying, and not just because of the war going on. finding out something personal about yourself is never fun, especially when it's the last thing you expect.

still, that's not why she's addressing everyone. after a moment of staring down the camera, she turns and points at the graffiti behind her. the end is coming. )

Somehow I consider this in rather bad taste. Don't you agree?

( her voice is mild, but the tightness in her lips and lines around her mouth probably betray her lack of amusement and actual distress at the writing. )

Actual war is bad enough, but psychological warfare just seems cruel at this point.

( and believe her, she knows all about cruel. )

( ooc: just an ic comment on graffiti that went on during the night. :) if your character is a member of city patrol, you might be able to tell her what is going on / who did it? )

[flatly:] No, I wouldn't. [The graffiti reminds him of his house's words, though--winter is coming, and it's certainly drawing nearer and nearer.] It isn't something to be taken lightly, and I assure you, my lady, the ones responsible for this have learned that lesson.

Surely nothing so stringent as death, I hope. ( she's just trying to push his buttons at this point. he seems like a good, honorable sort (he's been given away by his 'my lady') and she could never resist the urge to tease that type of man. )

[He looks vaguely ill at the thought. He's seen his father take someone's head numerous times before, for crimes such as desertion and treason--the latter the very crime his father would be accused of and executed for, later on down the line (and the thought of it still makes his blood boil, he knows his father, after all). He's even taken someone's head before for treason, and would again if need be.

But right now there's no need. The culprits don't know, they're only trying to seem impressive, nothing more.]

Nothing so final as that. [Or. Not final, in any case.] A few sharp words served well enough. It won't happen again.

I certainly hope not. People seem rattled enough as it is.

It's not the first time we've seen something like this, my lady. The last time I did--it wasn't anyone chasing after amusement. [A brief, guilty glance away, then he looks back.] It won't, I'm certain of that. If it does, we'll be much harsher in the punishment meted out to them.

Nothing, as of right now. As far as I can tell, the city is as safe as we can keep it.
