D482 // Video - Group project

[The shuffling of papers and some sort of metallic object getting the last few details hammered into it could be heard in the background before a few friendly faces appeared on the screen.]

Buon pomeriggio Asgard!

Aladdin, Tony Stark and I have been working on a project for a few weeks now and I think we are to the stage where we could use some help with it. That is if anyone interested in a light weight armor with the added protection of runes? We could use a few volunteers to test the design.

We need people with all sorts of different shapes and body types for this. It's important to get all information we can so this will work.

[Aladdin says over his shoulder, he is doing a few last minute checks on the rune work.]

Si, just as he says. So would any of you be willing?

[Considering her taste buds, she might almost drink it with a smile. In fact, considering what she said about the flavor of the offensive tea she used to drink and her weak taste buds, that stuff was probably almost unsafe to drink.]

Yeah, let's go ahead and see this armor. That is what you guys brought me over for anyway, isn't it?

[Samantha pulled out her sickle first. It had been enchanted as had the armor with something to protect its edge from breaking. She hefted the short blade and brought it down. All things being equal, the weapon wasn't going to break, but it wouldn't have cut through easily as is. Raking the edge along the metal, she found no scratch and nodded in satisfaction.]

Do we have a hammer around here, a sledgehammer preferably?

[She nodded in gratitude and took it. Hefting it, she pulled back and brought the sledgehammer down onto the armor with full force, hands slipping along it. As it struck, her body jarred a little and she laughed.]

You need to get one of Thor's in to test this. You really do.

Oh, Thor would tear it to pieces. No, I mean one of the Thor house people, with the strength boost. If they're powerful enough, we can see just how much protection it offers. Thor should rip anything like this apart.

[She pulled out the stone with the rune on it and showed it to him.]

After the fire, we can test explosions.

Agreed. Gods like to cheat. Comes with the territory.

I've got some fuel. We can try lighting it on fire in a dusty space and see if it singes at all before testing the explosives. Sound good?

[It wasn't myth busters, but it would do. Dousing the armor, she lit a flame and tossed it into the bin, letting the flames roar up while she stepped back from the contained blaze.]

You guys put protections up for fire, right?
samantha_grey: (Pensive)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2014-08-17 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[When the flames died down, Samantha approached the bucket and used tongs to pull the suit out. She was inspecting the ties and straps, trying to check what was there and wasn't. They would be smoldering but intact from a quick flash like that, rather than destroyed.]

It should cover the armor itself and straps. Otherwise it wouldn't be good after one or two uses of the power.

Simple treatment to help resist fire wouldn't be bad, but they look mostly intact. They're definitely resistant.

[She put the armor carefully back in and held out the rune.]

I'm going to put this in, and when I do, the charge primes in thirty seconds. So keep your distance.

[She scratched the mark to turn on the rune and dropped it in before running back to him and diving. As she hit the deck, she could be seen counting.]

Twenty seconds...

(OOC: Your call on effectiveness of an explosive run here. They're basically incendiary magic grenades I think.)
samantha_grey: (hmmm)

Yeah, that definitely looks to be the main weak point. I'm not really surprised by that. They're a different substance, and getting the runes onto them will be hard. Without dragon blood to treat them with, we'll have to go other routes.

What about metal joints?
samantha_grey: (hmmm)

[personal profile] samantha_grey 2014-08-22 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just a matter of making sure there's enough space for the joints and for padding underneath. Then there's the question of getting it on too. Does this work on chainmail underneath?

It's a thought at the least. You've got Freyrs to work with, so that should help you guys in terms of making the design. It speeds things up considerably, I'd think.
