[Roland sits amid wood, nails, and wire, scattered in a few small piles across the overgrown back yard. A little ways behind him, eagle-eyed viewers might notice a chicken in the process of laying an egg.]

Fiona Gallagher's... gone home. She, ah-- [He shakes his head, starts over, nodding at the house his camera's not at the right angle to show.] Anything in there's fair game. Odin 107, I mean. I won't be needing any of it. The door'll be open. Probably food and furniture, mostly - anything in the cupboards or refrigerator, anything not nailed down, bar the refrigerator and stove. I think the place came with those. [He shakes his head again, realizing he might be starting to ramble.] Doesn't matter. Corn, beans, squash plants in the back. Take them. Can probably see 'em behind me somewhere.

[Another chicken starts to peck at his sleeve and he lifts his arm, blinking at it.]  Ah. Couple chickens, if you can catch them. Is that all? I think... I could probably use a couple extra hands to get all this wood and a couple of these plants over to Freyr district. And I... to be honest, I could probably use the company.

Bowls. I'll need a few of the bowls to transport these plants in. Other than that... Plates, silverware, clothes, bedding. Doesn't matter. I'll be leaving once it's empty. If I'm not here, don't take any of the magic plants. I'll find you. [The tone of that last is too absent for it to sound like a threat. It sounds, if anything, like an afterthought.]

The door's open. Have I said... [He has, probably. Roland shakes his head again, grimacing at himself, and cuts the feed.]

[He thinks on it.]

Perhaps I'm selfish. Perhaps it's that time in her world wouldn't have passed no matter how long she spent here. Perhaps this place has lost another warrior at a time when we need all we can get.

Does it matter? She is gone, no matter what I happen to think about it.

[He hadn't moved, at first, and he does follow once he's caught on. Just a small delay.]

[He opens his mouth, pauses, then sighs, not really having it in him to puzzle over unfamiliar words right now.] Whatever that is, I'm sure it'll be of help if you say it will. The only things that truly matter are these plants and the parts of their greenhouse that I've been taking apart. They need to go back to, uh, to Ananael. I'm not sure... I don't think you've been there.

Yeah, I mean - I meant it's good for her that she's back home. That's what we want, right?

[Now that made Fuuka’s eyes widen. But then again…]

No, it’s just that...if he does go back home, I wonder if he’ll remain dead. So even if he does remember, I wonder how much of a difference would it make.

[Not to mention that there was another question that had been bothering her since he arrived here but…]

[Roland's not standing quite as close as he was during the whole 'cuddle spell' thing, but certainly a little closer than he usually would. Enough that their shoulders brush a little.]

Where she spends her time won't make much difference, in the long run.

[Why is he arguing this? And with a child, one who only means to think well of a departed friend. Roland runs a hand over his face, shaking his head.]

You're right. Of course you're right. She spoke of her family often. Her brother, especially. She won't remember missing him, but that she won't need to can only be a good thing.

That is a problem.

[One he thinks on for a moment. He'd heard there were travelers here who had only death to return to, but he hadn't thought much on it. Not for more than a moment.]

Have you asked these gods what they have planned? There might be limits to what they can do, depending on whatever rules of space and time allow us to return so precisely to our worlds in the first place. But some of Asgard's gods will try to answer questions.

[Her phrasing, though, didn't escape him, and he studies the camera thoughtfully as he continues.]

You speak as if he'll still be around to remember, after his death.

[He makes note of it, in his mind as he makes note of everything, whether it means something to him or not.]

[He knows all the native shopkeepers around here, too.]

[Davesprite watches the bird cluck around his feet, head tilting in a decidedly avian way, before he shrugs back.]

No thanks. Too many feathers. [He crouches back down, arms perched over his knees, and the chicken bobs its way around him.] Why don't you eat them.

[She shook her head. There was still a lot she didn’t know about this world and even though she was reading as much as she could, all she knew that was that the worlds were all connected somehow.

She’s not sure if that was even possible but to go against the Gods was the last thing she could do right now]

No, I haven’t but I know the Gods have a lot of work right now. And especially for Odin… [She gave a sigh] Do you know how I can talk to them? Do I just simply go up and just...talk to them?

[No seriously, was there some sort of special way to talk to them? But she gave a pause.]

...Of course, it would be rude to put his death in vain. He meant a lot to me and my friends so it’s the least I can do somehow.

As far as I know, you can contact them the same way you would a traveler, by looking them up on one of these bracelets. But some are more likely to respond than others. Freyr in particular seems more... personally concerned with us than I expected any of them to be.

Too much work. Might still do someone some good, anyway.

[He watches the chicken, taking a thoughtful drag on his cigarette.]

...To tell the truth, I don't know if Fiona would have wanted me to. I don't think she had overmuch experience with farms, and such people tend to start thinking of livestock as pets. I'd eat 'em if I had to, but- [He shrugs.]

I can't think who'd have one. Perhaps... [Roland closes his eyes for a moment, depending on the feeling of September's shoulder next to his to tell him if he needs to stop or turn, and rubs two fingers across his forehead.] If there's anyone nearby who does bricklaying, works with heavy loads?

[Now that pinged Fuuka’s interest!]

Really? I’m not really familiar with Norse Mythology but may I ask why she would be more interested in us than the other Gods?

Ah... [Roland remembers his conversation with Athelstan, who'd worshiped these same gods back on his world, and seems the tiniest bit stuck for words.]

[If she decides to ask more about this particular god Roland may be in trouble, but hopefully he can answer her well without mentioning what exactly it is Freyr is the god of. Explaining the worship of fertility and 'male pleasure' to children is not a thing he is prepared to do today. Or ever.]

The one time we spoke, I had... concerns. Odin's focus was elsewhere, but Freyr seemed to care deeply. [If Roland looks a little confused at that, it's because he is. Still. He shrugs, dismissing his own confusion.] I'm pretty sure it was genuine. As to why, you'd have to ask him.

[Be sure that she doesn't ever know. Coming from a somewhat conservative Japanese family, the idea of talk about fertility would be quite the talk!

Of course, this was the same girl who blushed when a friend started to flirt with her. So for a few moments, Fuuka stared at him before settling in with a sigh.]

I suppose I don't have much of a choice but to ask. While the Gods might be busy as it is, I'm glad to hear that there is at least one God who is willing to listen to our troubles.

[Otherwise, she didn't want to believe this place was as bad as people were saying it was]

[He clearly needs the help.]

Sign's said to have some empathy for the kind and gentle. [Because his conversation with Athelstan had covered some ground that could be repeated in polite company.] She might be receptive, too. But overall... they're fighting a war. Long as they stay focused on keeping Yggdrasil alive I think our troubles can wait a while.

[He opens his eyes to look at September, then nods.]

That's fine. I can wait.

[Roland moves away, leaning against a wall and letting his head fall back. It may look like he expects to be waiting a while, but that's what he's used to, and falls into it without thinking. It's probably how September will find him if he leaves and comes back.]

[He does come back soon enough--he might know the natives, but he's not a talker. And he's got a cart, as promised.]

[Roland pushes himself off the wall, setting a hand on September's shoulder in passing and letting it slide off as he inspects the workmanship of the thing. Looks sturdy enough.]

Probably wouldn't have been wise to try to carry that glass all that way by hand. This'll do much better.

[Which is as good, in Roland's mind, as outright thanking September for thinking more clearly than he had.]

[It is almost painful to have to explain things in normal English.]

Ananael, nah never even heard of it. They probably need a better tourism board.

A potions shop. Herbs. [He waves a hand, dismissive. The details don't really matter.] I've been running it since Castiel left.

[There's the smallest hesitation after Catiel's name. Not because they'd been close - they hadn't been - but because it reminds him Fiona's gone. Ridiculous, but he thinks that's probably the way it's going to be with him for a while.]

A few things here ought to be brought there. Ought not be left. But there's not much. Everything else...

[He looks over it all yet another time, and shrugs.]
