Greetings. [ he considers formally introducing himself, but given the circumstances, perhaps it would be better left to another time. ]
I wish to put forth a formal request to speak to the patron to which I have been assigned. Odin, I believe. The matter is of the utmost urgency and unfortunately, cannot afford to be delayed.
If this is not the correct channel with which to ensure direct contact, then if I could be pointed in the right direction, it would be most appreciated.
Additionally — [ he pauses, mulling over the many questions that still remain in his head. unfortunately, there isn't time to ask all of them, so he supposes that if anything, he can start with the simplest ] — I'd like to enquire about the current Stardate, if possible.
[ enterprise filter ]
[ it isn't difficult for him to explore the other functions of the bracelet soon after he's made the post and quickly enough, he does come upon two names he recognizes. and if their names are here, then they must be connected to the same rudimentary network as himself. he wastes no time in sending out a text: ]
This is Commander Spock of the USS Enterprise. Do you copy?
[ yep, the warm and fuzzy message they'd definitely been waiting for. ]

Where the hell are you? Back in the city?
no subject
[ which city what coordinates what star-system, who knows. but he's here. ]
Your inquiry seems to indicate that you are not.

Could you elaborate?

Since when do elves care about stardates?
audio
she can't see it, but he's definitely got an eyebrow raised at that "elves" comment. ]
Creatures of Earth lore certainly have no need for it.

[ though she didn't appear to look like any sort of pre-contact human, the usage of A.D. in the context of measuring time would lead to several possibilities -- one of which could mean arriving from an earth before his time. ]
Which world was yours, if you don't mind me asking?

If I had access to accurate charts I'd be able to map something useful.

If clarification is needed, then I believe I already have something of an answer.

The date system here is reckoned by the seasons. They have, in essence, a four-month year, and with rather long months. One does begin to long for the Gregorian calendar, even with its faults.
Regarding the date and time, natives in this world count time by seasons, each being around forty-five days and it's currently the 416th year.

at least, he can appreciate the first comprehensible response, even if it leaves him no closer to approximating how much time has passed between him being on the enterprise and arriving here (or whether any funny temporal displacement business happened). ]
Thank you. [ he pauses, fiddling with the bracelet so he can save this new information. ] Would you happen to know the current day?
audio
Shielding Asgard from Yggdrasil's collapse taxed Odin profoundly, and he has fallen into a sleep from which he cannot be woken. The one reigning right now would be Thor, Prince-Regent and heir.
As for the current day, it's the 31st day of Spring.

What's stardate?
audio
[ which is, you know, fascinating. ]
Where I come from, it is the standard method of taking the date.
audio
[ ohhhh. Ame nods ] i think they count the days by seasons. But most of us count them by how long we have been here.

Captain. I take it you also have no idea as to the reason behind our arrival here.
[ such faith in this one. ]
no subject
I got a reason, but you're not going to like it.
[ he chuckles because ha ha good joke, Spock doesn't like anything. ] We're here to fight a war.

They need our help.

Help is commonly sought from ones allies. Or at least, from those that are amicable to the ones seeking it.

A manner of conveying the current date, although I see that it isn't the conventional term here.

You— well you might have to explain what you mean by Stardate before most of us could give you an answer for that.

There hasn't— well I don't think any of us have been here long enough to make such a system, though that one is rather inventive. A bit— confined to one world but— inventive.
