[ hello asgard! as surprising as it might be, when the video chimes in kate is not in her office. no, she actually seems to be outside, and there are distant sounds of the battle raging in the distance. more immediately around her, though, are the yells of travellers and natives alike rushing about, absolute chaos stirring around them. behind kate is what looks like the remains of a section of the wall that used to surround asgard, that used to keep them safe. those who are familiar with that part of the city, might recognize the district she's in as sigyn. ]

The battle's getting worse, and the damage is getting closer to the walls. I know there's been a lot of Travellers who have already come out to help put the fires out but-

[ there's an explosion, and the feed shakes as kate ducks down from the falling rocks that explode out over her head. as the dust settles, whoever's watch the video might see the vaguest hint of green up behind the video feed. sigyn's spell, desperately trying to hang on. the network can probably hear kate yelling, trying to direct people away from the wall, to regroup. she comes back onto the feed a moment later. ]

We're trying to cut off the weaker points. Sigyn, Loki and Hel are the most vulnerable. Anyone who can should head there. The Guard has already taken to trying to keep this all together, you can find someone there if you want to help. [ the video is bouncing now as kate is trying to get further into the city, directing people while she goes. this isn't an army, isn't a battle. this is trying to keep a city together, trying to keep people safe. ]

If those walls go down, if that spell falls, we're done. We're taking all the help we can get.

[ another explosion, and kate's cutting the feed, yelling at someone else off-screen. ]

Are we better needed out there or in the houses needed? [She originally stayed in Loki so there's some minor loyalty to it. She's stayed away from the fighting, choosing to make more weapons. But the fighter in her calls too much to this, as much as she hates the idea of helping the named gods of this land, this is her only home now and there are people she's come to care for.

She mislikes it, but she cannot help herself.]

Already at Loki. Doing what I can, but I'm still getting the hang of my new power.

That depends on you. [ from the audio, it seems as though kate hasn't moved far from the initial chaos, but she's doing her best to keep her voice calm. solid. ] There are people out there trying to end the battle faster, get the giants to destroy themselves. All I know is that any of the people in these outer districts are having their homes destroyed by the run-off.

You can go fight or you can come protect, it depends on your priorities. [ kate doesn't care much about the gods, or the war. she cares about the people the war will hurt. ] There's plenty to do on both sides.

'Spose it matters what our powers are then. [Not that she's very controlled with hers. She sighs.]

How bad is it out there?

What sort of help would be most useful?

[Robb doesn't respond right away, and when he does there's background noise--he's taking a much-needed break at the hospital, having been doing much the same as Kate and the rest of the Guard for most of the day, and the chatter of doctors, patients and the occasional pained groan can be heard as a result.]

My lady. [He's serious, all business now.] I'm in Sigyn--where are you? We've to meet.

[Meet, and talk, and try to hold a city together. It's a daunting task, but someone has to do it. Besides, he needs to think about something that isn't the sight of that wave of black ice in Heimdall, a sight that makes him feel cold to his core.]

[ Moran, no. Moran--Moran, now is not the time. Moran-- ]

Cutting off the weaker points, eh? Why not cut off the weaker links in the chain while we're at it?

Getting people out of these areas. Once they're clear we can try to work to reinforce the walls, but at this point there are too many people in harm's way.

[ moran you can GTFO ]

And what links would those be?

[ kate doesn't really use her's unless she has to. which, considering how many people have been getting hurt, she has. ]

Bad. But it'll get worse unless we can hold someone of this off.

I haven't made it over there- how does it look? What power do you have?

Robb-

[ she's cut off by more sounds. something's starting to collapse and she's trying to get people out from around the building. ]

I'm near the wall- Sigyn, too, but other side of it.

[ they probably should have met already. probably should have figured out what it was they were doing, organized out a plan of attack. but the two of them had just jumped right in- telling, really. ]

[ But you're back, Kate, and he needs to annoy you. ]

All the tossers who can't put up a proper fight, ain't it?

Not too bad just yet, but the day's still young.

[he snorts] Well, as I can't move anything with a thought, I'm guessing it's the other one.

I'll do what I can.

Are you ok? Where do you need me?

[He's more than a little concerned for her safety, as usual. It's not that Kate can't handle it. It's more that he can't handle seeing her hurt.]

I'd rather go where I'm needed if I'm t'go at all. [Now that she's seemingly committed herself.]

I'll come find you, then.

[It says something about the both of them, he supposes, that the first thing they did, instead of meeting up and drawing up a plan like they should've, was charge right in--not a good plan, but in his case he'd realized that Arya was in Hel, and thus in danger, and he couldn't have left her there.

No use thinking about that now, though. The least they can do now is try and hold the wall.

He cuts the feed, rouses Grey Wind, and stuffs the stump of his right hand into a pocket as he walks out of the hospital at a brisker, faster pace than usual, dodging debris and stray needles of ice. His wolf follows in his footsteps, a grey shadow weaving in and out of the debris, and soon enough they've both broken into a run, once the wall comes into view.]

[ well it's working. :| ]

So you'd just leave them to die?

[ Good. ]

Precisely that, chummy.

If something- [ okay no, if something goes wrong is probably much too general of a term. ] If things get too out of hand I can send some more help over there. We just need to get people out.

[ she does hear the snort, though, and she can understand the sentiment. ] Well, any power is better than no power where I'm from.

Oh, I agree. But let's not rely too heavily on what the gods gave us, eh? I got by just fine on my own strength, and that's what I intend to do now.

I'll get people out if need be.

[ her first instinct is to say safe, because that's where she wants him and wants him to stay. ]

There are large groups of natives who are moving further into the city, if you want to try and direct them to the castle. That'd probably be the safest place for them.

That, or you could come help me closer to the wall, though I don't know how much more we'll be able to help.

I can come to you in Sigyn if you need me. I can move some rubble out of the way with my power.

[He wants to be next to her, to know for certain that she's ok.]

You're definitely needed. It'll be dangerous, though. If you're going to help you need to be aware of that.

I guess I'm not that surprised.

No, wait-

[ she at least has the foresight to try and stop him, even if the feed is cut off before she could really say much about it. it would be smart to meet somewhere where the two of them weren't in immediate danger, somewhere where they could actually put together a plan of attack.

but that would be too easy, wouldn't it? robb's cut the feed and kate wouldn't be able to leave the front lines if she tried. she made sure castle knew where she was and what she was doing before she left, much in the same way robb needed to check on arya, but now? now castle was coming out to help her and robb was coming to meet her and really, is she all that surprised? there's a certain type of person she liked to surround herself with and they all apparently ended up out in the line of fire.

she doesn't seem him coming, initially, caught up in trying to make sure a group of natives make it completely out of their house as more of the wall starts to crumble down at the end of the street. the ground trembles a bit with the force of the attacks off in the distance, but there's not much she can do about that. when she hears her name, she turns, the natives moving quickly past her, further into the city. ]

Robb?

Do you think you can stop rubble that's already falling? Is your power strong enough yet?

[ because she's not going to say no, not when it means she can keep an eye on him. but she's also not going to ask him to come if it'll mean putting him in danger. it's a thin line she's walking right now. ]

I... don't know.

[At least he's being honest. So far he can bend and move small objects, but he's not really sure about rocks.]

I can try it.

I've been through battle before. Y'needn't worry.

I don't want you getting hurt.

[ he's being honest with her, so the least she can do is be honest back. ]
