[ you may all be used to haughtiness as far as morgana's appearances on the network go but today she even looks different. all white gown with golden threads and hair falling down her back, she looks more like the girl who she once was, less like the woman she has become. ]

Asgard. I hope this finds you well.

I have a favor to ask of you, if it pleases you. I know some of you have never nor ever will look upon me favorably but it is not for my sake.

-- Many had left the city. You know of it, it is not news. Many of them were once whom I loved. But they are back to their own realms and I -

[ will not think of it. not now. this is not about them all, just about one. ]

Among them was someone whom I loved better than most for he had loved me just the same. He was a child of eleven years named Mordred. A druid boy I once helped rescue and my kin and above all, a friend. One who was.

[ almost like her own child; but again, she will not swell on it ]

Life is not simple for a lonely Druid boy in our realm and this child is without a protector, he returns to uncertainty and fear. He might yet return here and he might not and I do not know how much this would do and yet I would ask this of you.

If you had known him and even if you hadn't, think of him. I do not know to which God or Gods you pray or if you pray at all. But if you do, mention his name.

The last time I saw him in Camelot, he'd escaped.

[Merlin stands at the entrance of her room, leaning against the door frame.]

We hadn't seen or heard of him in over a year. I always thought he'd found another druid camp to stay in.

[ she sits on her bed, fingers ghosting against the cape she had sewn for him, she dares not put it away. when he speaks, she turns her head, eyes bright and a little smile on her lips ]

I would think the same. It is much preferable to other, darker thoughts.

[She hadn't spoken to Mordred in months, and then only infrequently, but the boy did leave an impression. It was enough of an impression for her to contact Morgana for the first time in a while as well.]

I was never sure we worshiped the same gods. Enough has been lost in my world that I sometimes wonder, but I can say a prayer to Lugh to watch over him. Seems fitting.

I knew him a little bit. He was a good kid.

[ He gives a warm smile. ]

I'll definitely think of him. And if there's anything I can do ...

[ She needs only ask. ]

He was. Young as he is, I believe we have all learned many lessons from him. He is wiser than us all combined.

[ and she might yet cry; it's been many months since Morgana Pendragon shed any tears but Mordred --

there was a type of connection there she knows she will never have again. and him being sent away to an unclear fate breaks her heart. ]

Druids faith and culture are both largely unknown even in my own world. They keep to themselves, mostly; I cannot blame them, their kind had suffered at the hands of Camelot more than once.

[ but she forces herself not to go there, not to make this about her anger, rather to make this about Mordred. ]

Thank you Samantha, I am certain he would have appreciated it. I do as well.

I can believe that. He was a nice kid. Curious, and hard to talk to, but I remember he spoke the old tongue. It had been so long since I'd heard it outside of magic that it surprised me when we met.

[Someone else has lost contact with a young boy, and is now hurting over such a loss. And Ninian cannot help thinking of Nils, the younger brother that she misses so much.]

My sympathies, milady... I will remember his name. And hope he is all right, no matter where he is.

I apologize for your loss, madam. Though I'm sure the words are little comfort. I hope the two of you can be reunited soon in some manner.

It seems when this place gives us people, it takes them away, as well.

A lot of children have many things to teach us. They are often wise beyond the eldest's years because you'd have to look hard to find an adult with an open mind like theirs. They have a certain way of thinking that age wears away.

He did not truly had a chance to be a child, considering the way he grew up. I suppose that is why he did not act nor spoke like any other child his age. He had matured too quickly. I have tried - we have tried to provide him with a lighter experience here but I need not tell you how difficult the war had made it.

I never knew many children. When we grew up Arthur and I were only ever allowed to play with each other, as we were the only noble children at court.

[ she smiles a bit ]

Mordred was special. I cannot quite explain it but he was.

I didn't grow up like most kids, so I think I understand some of what you mean, though I think he always seemed to be more familiar with war than I was at his age. I do like that people try to offer the kids here that, but like you said, the war doesn't make that any easier. Glad we have the school now.

[ she is not used to saying 'thank you' nor to feeling so humble but Mordred leaving had changed something in Morgana, had made her sadder but also less proud and prone to lashing out. She looks at the name and smiles. ]

[ three words she hadn't used in a whole long while but she does now, lifting her hand as if to stop her mid-sentence. ]

Morgana. I have no need of the formalities.

I don't know if I must be grateful for having seen Mordred to begin with or angry that I had him only to have him taken away.

[ always were but that part goes unsaid. ]

Morgana, then. Are there any from your home who may know of what is to become of him, to offer comfort? [Or at least closure?]

... Yes, that's me. [And she cannot help blushing a little.] I do wish we had met in better circumstances, but if there's something I could do for your sake, I'd be glad to...

We have to take what we are given, here.

I...my King has arrived, here. As has my sister. Even if they are taken from me again, at least I have been given them for a short time.

[He smiles, just a little.]

My lady is too kind.

Ah, I'm sorry, Morgana.

[ Being a member of The God Squad back home, Sam's no stranger to praying. ]

I'll put him in my prayers. [ Curious Sam is curious though: ] What's a Druid?

In many ways, I suppose I did not either.

[ she and Arthur had only each other for playmates and growing up under Uther could not pass for a normal childhood in any book. ]

As do I. I hate that there are children here to begin with but if they must be here, then the least we can offer them is some small measure of a routine.

[ her smile turns a tad brighter at that. ]

truly, Doctor, you're one of the only souls to make me feel like I'm not entirely mad.
