I know this might be an odd question, but do any of you know anything about a king named Solomon? It's not super important, but it would help ease my curiosity on him.

[After reading 1001 nights, he has come to realize that there is some truth to a lick of otherworldly fiction. So, in some world's there were similar stories about places and people from his world. It had been nagging him to see if the same was true for Solomon and some of the things Aladdin had read recently.]

If you all don't know about Solomon himself, does anyone know any sort of information about the seal of Solomon or the lesser key of Solomon? If it helps, the last thing is also called "Clavicula Salomonis Regis".

If you know anything about at least one of these things, please get back with me.

There is a great deal of extant information pertaining to King Solomon; about what in particular do you find yourself curious?

To my knowledge, which very well may not extend beyond the boundaries of my world, there are several Keys of Solomon in existence, most based off a manuscript understood to have been written well after Solomon's death. I myself have never placed too much stock in them, but I have also never studied them extensively.

I had assumed there was at least another key, since there was already lesser one. I didn't find any information on it.

Any information you have on him is fine.

As far as I know, there are several, but all are copies of the original manuscript. Though, like I have said, I have never made a comprehensive study of the manuscript's history.

You are aware he is an extremely prominent biblical figure? There is a wealth of knowledge pertaining to him.

I know a lot. The question is, why does it interest you? [ prince of Demons isn't fond of items that allow mortals to control demons ]

Why? Well the interesting thing I've found is certain figures and things are common in certain worlds, even if there are wild differences. Solomon and his seal are something of importance where I'm from.

As for the key, the beings covered in it are called something else where I'm from. I wish to learn about the similarities and differences between what I have knowledge of and what others may know from their worlds is all.

Important how?

The Seal of Solomon was said to give King Solomon the power to command demons, genies, animals, water and wind. It was said to have the form of a ring. The ring was engraved by Tetragrammaton and was given to the king directly from heaven, and it had two parts; one meant to control the good and one meant to control the evil.

Clavicula Salomonis Regis was said to be a textbook regarding demonology, said to be written by Solomon, however that's questionable. This grimoire explains how to call for demons and control them.

Since you have told me so much I do the same. Solomon was one true king of the old world, the symbol of the seal is actually the common symbol used with magic, seen on kings vessels and other items of the current world.

Hmmm. Are demons always be refereed to as Djinn in your world? I don't mean genies, since from what people tell me those are just beings that grant wishes.

Humans refer to things as they please. From Islam and Arabic folklore, they say Djinn are spiritual creatures, of a non-corporeal substance, and they can be neutral, good or evil. The latter are commonly called "demons" or compared to demons from other religions.

That is the same at least, djinn are beings of the soul and the puerest magic in my world. Though all the ones I've met can choose when they with interact with.

They don't have much connection to religion, since there really aren't any in the current world, prominent ones at least.

In my world, they are stories created by humans.

All the magical creatures so to speak, are all the same. [ demons. All of them. Every single one. yeah, even the Egyptian gods or the ghosts of someone's mother ]

That's odd. I can't imagine all magical creatures just being from stories before they're real. It should be the other way around.

They are real. Humans just don't know anything about them and make up stories. They aren't even called "magical creatures". [ basically ]

Ahhh, so to the humans in your world, most unusual creatures are mythical, even if they had magic or not.

And most humans refuse to believe they are real.

Those are items regarding spirits, good and bad, and their control. King Solomon was a king of Israel and the son of David, and he is character from the Old Testament.

He may have existed, but most likely not like the tales have described him. [ but Demona does believe the artifacts to be real. it's not the first nor the last time it has happened. The man may be real or not, it doesn't matter - what the man had does ]

So the items were just used to control spirits, not guide or create them? [That certain is an interesting fact.]

At least I've actually heard of Israel as a place, but I don't know much about the Old Testament or his role in it.

The funny thing about the tales of kings is that there is always some truth to them even if they are embellished to the extreme. [The tales of Sinbad certainly prove that to him.]

I haven't made any extensive research on those items, so I can only tell you what I have heard.

The Old Testament is the Christian term for the Hebrew Bible, a collection of religious writings by ancient Israelites. Religious texts. [ Demona does not care for religion, really. ]

And that is correct. Most stories, tales and myths hold some truth, even if not always to the same extend.

Any information is good information, Miss. At least I know a little bit more on them.

I'll have to go digging through some religious texts later. Well it isn't as if I dislike getting a chance at reading something new. [Even if religion was a bit of an iffy subject for him.]

That bit of truth is what I'm trying to learn with all this.

I have never heard of those items being able to guide or create spirits. Rather summon them, if you will. And certainly, control them or send them away. However, there are many items in my world capable of doing so, not just the items of Solomon you have mentioned.

Though I don't think it'll help you much. As far as I can tell, there might be a world out there where King Solomon and his powers were all real and not just a story like in most worlds. [ demona waves her hand ] This place certainly enjoys reminding us of that.

Actually he is real in my world, at least the old one. Though those items and the king himself aren't exactly like the ones you describe.

In fact I found out there is a story that is a tiny bit similar to my life. Though I certainly didn't have a genie to grant me wishes.

I suppose such thing would have come in hand.

Like I said, what exists in one world, may be a story in another. It's a trend, here.

That is certainly true, in fact a lot of the people I know have pop up in 1001 nights.

Solomon, King of Israel?

If that is how he is referred to in your world then yes, that one.

Well, I can't know if it's your Solomon exactly if that's just my world, can I?

If King Solomon is a common enough person, there might be a few things that are the similar facts about him no matter what world.

That's exactly what I want to learn.

Okay, then. Point. He's actually a Biblical figure, so whether or not he actually existed is debatable. Haven't gone back to check, myself. Maybe I should.

[ He purses his lips in thought, and for a moment doesn't seem like he'll continue. Eventually he shakes his head, though, and clears his throat. ]

He ruled over Isreal and Judah for 40 years, after which those two countries split up because of his sins. Oh, and he also exists in the Qur'an as one of the 48 prophets, so my bet is he did exist, just not necessarily as a king or a prophet. Or perhaps more likely a prophet. Said to be the builder of the First Temple in Jerusalem. Striking any similarities yet?

Him being king is the same, though he actually ruled the old world, not just a few countries. I can't exactly say he was a prophet though.

What was the sin that caused the split between those counties.

Oh no, he isn't my lord. In my world, he was the sole king of the old world.

It seems like there are other king Solomon in other realms, I wish to learn how they are similar.

Then, he was lord and liege of all that lived... but not you?

I wasn't alive when he reigned and in the new world there are many rulers not just the one.
