Ahem. [Does she have your attention now? Yes? Good.] I hope people are still hungry, after being away to fight for so long, 'cause I made some food to share with everybody!

[Rue proudly shows off the mac and cheese and spiced chicken meatballs...which are both sort of messily plated, but they taste better than they look, honest!]

Back home, sharing food is really important after coming back from a long day at work. It's the same for war, right? I just wanted to do this now for everybody who went to the elves' kingdom because... [Shifty eyes. Hopefully Katniss and the others don't catch on to this too quickly.] I'm going with you next time. But I have to find somebody to teach me how to fight first.

Um, anyways! I'm gonna be at the park. There's some benches and tables we can use to eat if you want some of the food. You should bring some easy recipes for me to try if you have any, too!

Because somebody promised they would teach me how to make PB&J sandwiches. [Yes, she's looking at you, Stiles.]

Okay, I'll make everyone wait until you're here! Except the birds...I think they'll just take some if I don't feed them anyways.

They sure did it back home. Once, I saw a bird take a loaf of bread right out of a Peacekeeper's hands and fly away with it.

Maybe the Peacekeeper did something before. Somebody told me birds remember things like that.

I wouldn't be surprised. He just stood there, yelling at it as it flew away. But that bird didn't go hungry that night.

It's his fault if he made the bird angry.

Peeta... how come the Peacekeepers are all like that? They're from the districts just like we are.

[unkneaded]

Yeah. I think some of them just forgot that. Or wanted to.

[airborn]

Do they think the Capitol will treat them better if they do all that?

[Technically they did live a “better” life. But it’s not like the districts the peacekeepers are from are exempt from the Games either.]

They probably thought so. But they were really just as expendable in the Capitol's eyes.

[airborn]

I guess people really just see what they want to see.

Only the Capitol gets anything out of the Districts. The career districts just think they have it better.

[unkneaded]

You're right. The odds were only ever in their favor.

It was in yours, too. You and Katniss both got out.

[She doesn't need to say that it's never happened before. Peeta knows.]
