Ahem. [Does she have your attention now? Yes? Good.] I hope people are still hungry, after being away to fight for so long, 'cause I made some food to share with everybody!

[Rue proudly shows off the mac and cheese and spiced chicken meatballs...which are both sort of messily plated, but they taste better than they look, honest!]

Back home, sharing food is really important after coming back from a long day at work. It's the same for war, right? I just wanted to do this now for everybody who went to the elves' kingdom because... [Shifty eyes. Hopefully Katniss and the others don't catch on to this too quickly.] I'm going with you next time. But I have to find somebody to teach me how to fight first.

Um, anyways! I'm gonna be at the park. There's some benches and tables we can use to eat if you want some of the food. You should bring some easy recipes for me to try if you have any, too!

Because somebody promised they would teach me how to make PB&J sandwiches. [Yes, she's looking at you, Stiles.]

[Rue'll be waiting at the picnic tables, breaking a few meatballs into smaller pieces for her birds to eat.

She looks up when Alice gets here.]

You came!

[She searches around, wondering if the gold dragon she's seen Alice with is here, too.]

[Alice is carrying a basket as is that gold and red dragon Rue wanted to see, carrying a basket as well in his jaws. Alice curtsied before she placed her basket on the table. She then plucked the basket out of Marigold's mouth.]

Of course! I said I would! Ah, I brought a picnic blanket, the tea, some little sandwiches and biscuits!

[airborn]

[Rue watches the dragon with a smile and then she's distracted by the other food.]

The sandwiches are so small! Are they supposed to be like that?

[madcuriosity]

They are! Their little finger sandwiches. They're different sorts and they're small so you can try all of them without over eating. It's a taste of everything, you see.

[airborn]

[She gasps!] They’re finger sandwiches?

[She puts the one she had down slooooowly.] They don’t really have fingers in them, do they?

[madcuriosity]

No no! They're called finger sandwiches because you only need a finger or two to hold them. They're not made with fingers at all. Not my sandwiches, in any case.

No no, I made cucumber and butter, tomato and cheddar, ham brie and apple, watercress and butter, bacon lettuce and tomato, and tuna salad!

No fingers. I made them myself! [She held up her own.] See! All there!

[Rue looks at the sandwiches dubiously, but seems to accept the explanation.]

They are really tiny. I guess that makes sense. That’s what they’re called where you’re from?

[madcuriosity]

Yes, and they're served almost exclusively during tea time. Just enough to enjoy, but not enough to ruin supper. See?

They're like snacks during the afternoon.

[She can understand why such a thing would exist. The period between lunch and dinner is much longer, especially when you're working!]

We can eat these and save some more of the food I made for everybody else!

Ah, but I do wish to try that yellow dish you spoke about. I don't think I've ever had such a thing.

The macaroni and cheese... somebody called it mac n' cheese, too.

[Rue quickly scoops some onto a plate for Alice, then looks at Marigold.]

Does your dragon want some, too?

Oh, Marigold is really only partial to meat. [Said dragon is currently eying a bird.] Chicken and other fowl is his favorite.
