Ahem. [Does she have your attention now? Yes? Good.] I hope people are still hungry, after being away to fight for so long, 'cause I made some food to share with everybody!

[Rue proudly shows off the mac and cheese and spiced chicken meatballs...which are both sort of messily plated, but they taste better than they look, honest!]

Back home, sharing food is really important after coming back from a long day at work. It's the same for war, right? I just wanted to do this now for everybody who went to the elves' kingdom because... [Shifty eyes. Hopefully Katniss and the others don't catch on to this too quickly.] I'm going with you next time. But I have to find somebody to teach me how to fight first.

Um, anyways! I'm gonna be at the park. There's some benches and tables we can use to eat if you want some of the food. You should bring some easy recipes for me to try if you have any, too!

Because somebody promised they would teach me how to make PB&J sandwiches. [Yes, she's looking at you, Stiles.]

I made all kinds of things. I'm more of a fan of eating rather than cooking.

Eating is nice, too, but it's the best when you make enough to share with your friends and family.

[She frowns suddenly.]

Do you miss them when you're here?

I... [ well it's depressing but--] I was a ghost back home, most of my friends and family couldn't see me. I got used to missing them. But I had Tom and Hal. And Tom here is here too now.

You were a ghost? [What. This is new.]

How do you become a ghost?

I was... [ killed] Dead. I died.

[She knows what a ghost technically is, but it's a weird concept. For most people in the Districts, death is just the end of it.]

I...did, too. But I don't think I became one. How come you did?

I'm not sure how it works exactly. I suppose it was because I had unfinished business-- [ wait...]

You died? [ BUT NO YOU'RE A BABY.]

Um...yeah. People don't like hearing about it, so I don't really talk about it.

So you become a ghost when you have unfinished business?

I'm... well, if you ever want to talk about it, I know a wee bit about it. [ dying.]

It seems so, yes. Once you complete it, your door shows up and you go through it to the other side.

A door… [Her voice goes quiet, and her gaze faraway as she thinks back to the Arena.]

I don’t think there was a door. I just remember Katniss singing to me. [And then nothing after that.] And then I woke up here.

Then perhaps you didn't die.

Katniss and Peeta—they both said I was gone. They’re from. Later. In Panem.

[She shakes her head.] It’s okay. I didn’t think I would be making it anyway.

Oh. [ well shite.] Why would you think that?

That's what happens in the Games. Only one person gets to leave.

[Peeta and Katniss were just lucky this time.]
