Ahem. [Does she have your attention now? Yes? Good.] I hope people are still hungry, after being away to fight for so long, 'cause I made some food to share with everybody!

[Rue proudly shows off the mac and cheese and spiced chicken meatballs...which are both sort of messily plated, but they taste better than they look, honest!]

Back home, sharing food is really important after coming back from a long day at work. It's the same for war, right? I just wanted to do this now for everybody who went to the elves' kingdom because... [Shifty eyes. Hopefully Katniss and the others don't catch on to this too quickly.] I'm going with you next time. But I have to find somebody to teach me how to fight first.

Um, anyways! I'm gonna be at the park. There's some benches and tables we can use to eat if you want some of the food. You should bring some easy recipes for me to try if you have any, too!

Because somebody promised they would teach me how to make PB&J sandwiches. [Yes, she's looking at you, Stiles.]

Thank you, oh injury grading person. Fight-wise? Um, no. Not really. Which is probably why I haven't been bullied into learning.

I'll...I'll... [She lights up as she thinks of something.]

I'll take Hales with me if you don't!

[Resorting to dragon-napping, you better believe this is serious.]

You can't kidnap my dragon.

Or threaten to toxic gas me out of-- you know what? You're cruel. Cruel and mean and... mean. I'm keeping Hale under lock and key now. Safe from evil cruel girls who are actually bullies in disguise.

No. [Rue admits it with a sigh.] I don't think he would go with me when you're back anyways.

I'm not evil, I'm wicked. That's what the Doctor called me, and there's a difference.

[She's oddly proud of this.]

You're wickedly evil. They're not mutually exclusive. I'm bumping you from wicked to wicked and evil. You're the multitasker of being a bully.

Maybe if you ask Rachel nice enough, she'll doodle you up your own.

I'm only a bully for you because you're special. And you said you needed someone to make you learn how to fight.

Ohhhh no. It's okay, I don't need a dragon. I have my mockingjays and jabberjays. One of my friends drew them for me before she got sent home.

More like I need someone who can teach me who won't just kick me out when I wind up accidentally nutting them.

It's a bird. They can memorize whole conversations and repeat them in your voice.

Some of them are here with me, see?

[She lets one perch on her finger and holds it up to the screen, when it talks in Stiles' voice.]

[There were things that left Stiles' mouth that no one else should hear. Especially during special alone time.

They usually stay near my house and the cafe.

[She shrugs, completely missing the reason for Stiles' discomfort. Probably for the best.]

They were drawn for me, so they stay near me most of the time.

Good. That's... good.

[Stiles. Stiles, PG your brain for like, five minutes. God.]

Yeah, that's ah, that's probably for the best. That way you don't lose them.

[Or pick up on things like "There once was a man from Nantucket".]

You don't have to be scared of them!

[Maybe Stiles is just worried because he doesn't like birds?]

I'm not afraid of birds. I just... think that some things shouldn't be accidentally overheard and repeated to others.

Ohh. [Surprisingly, she seems to get it and immediately becomes serious.] Like secrets?

[That was the whole point of the Capitol making them anyway. They’re harmless here, but Rue wouldn’t want them spreading secrets she’s supposed to be keeping either!]

[teenyoda]

Exactly like secrets. Right. Yes.

[He clung to that, because hey, way to change the topic and yes, it was as good an excuse as any.]

Okay. I won’t let them go near your room! [She’ll give them a good talking to later.]

Now will you come over and teach me how to make the sandwiches?

Yes, yes, fine. I'm on my way over. With peanut butter.

Good. I have some extra bread ready.

Just come find me when you're at the park!

Sure. Just don't go off and hide or anything. I'm not playing hide and go make a sandwich.
