[when the feed starts, it's focused on a nervous-looking guy against a backdrop of feathers. that's it. just feathers. all the feathers anyone could possibly ever want.]

Um, hi.

[he pauses, frowning, and then reaches out to poke at the screen. tapping, tapping, curious and probably not really believing that it's working. what in the world is this? and then he remembers that hey, he's supposed to be saying something.]

Ah. Um. Hi. I'm- My name is Lor. I'm...new here. Apparently.

[he fidgets just a little bit. just. a little. it's totally not a whole lot what are you talking about.]

So, from what I understand, you.. you guys are at war. Right? And I- we're here to help? [he doesn't look very happy about that.] Does anyone know why there's a war going on? [and this is where he gets a little bit sullen, even unhappier than before.] From my experience, it's never a good reason. Just people wanting to hurt others.

If...if you can prove that you're the good guys in this war, then I'll help. I'm not...really sure what use I'll be, but if it'll help you guys and get me home faster [and really, he has to wonder if he means home as in Hell or his real home] then I'll do it.

Just, um...let me know what I can do, I guess.

Yeah, I- I read that one. It, um. I hope the kid who drew it is really proud. But I guess what I'm asking is.. Well, why do the giants want to destroy everything? It doesn't really benefit them either, does it? Unless it does.

Yes, we've been brought into a war. If it's any consolation to you, I agree. In the end, both sides suffer. It doesn't determine who's right — only the victor who remains.

It's better to get both sides of the story first, though. I can't exactly prove I'm a "good guy", but you can count me in on your rescue effort.

The history of this world. I assume you've seen the guide speak of a prophecy? But there's some noticeable differences between the lore discussed in textbooks and this version of events.

When the consequence is the death of your own world, it's hard to disagree. I would need evidence to the contrary before switching sides.

Besides, they do not need just soldiers. This "greyness" is an important thing for us to address as well, so it seems.

I don't...think there's anything great about listening to someone die. I've heard it enough times, believe me. I'd rather not have to hear it ever again.

Well, the first intro goes over the basic gist of our dilemma, but even if it's all hearsay, the second guide handles the matter with a bit more finesse. I've also heard there's a library around these parts, so I'd recommend checking it out to confirm any information you've received so far.

[ And that piques her interest. ] What do you mean, "three realms"?

[He's a little disheveled, a little tired-looking; someone's slept odd hours recently, looks like, but he's awake and alert enough to at least answer. Ryan's faint smile is sympathetic.]

Not sure what we could really offer for proof, but... well, if it helps, I've been here a while now and I don't think I've really been given any reason not to help out. It's not really my thing either- wars, I mean, but- you don't have to fight to be useful, yeah?

...and honestly, it's not like there's another option besides 'hang around and do nothing'. There's not a solid way out besides getting it over with, we're all a little stuck.

Also, a piece of advise - in a war, there is not "good" or "bad", "right" or "wrong". There are the winners and there are losers, and the winners will write history and they will be the right ones.

That's how war is. You just have to choose which side helps you the most.

Sounds like we're in the same boat.

You're damned right they made a mistake. Sure, a medic that doesn't want to kill is one thing, but this is war. You need to have a sterner stomach or you're going to die.

I have no idea, I'm new too. But I can tell you that from what I know historically about Yggdrasil, Ragnarok and the like- we're on the side of the good. And the myths are bang on enough at home that I trust that's not a coincidence.

Plus, giants are supposed to be inherently kind of dickish. Though I'm not actually sure if anyone knows whether or not they really exist.

Sometimes people fight because they just want to. [See: Careers ]

The gods of the city are fighting with the Giants so they can stop all the worlds from dying.
