[ Rory (well, more Rory's nose than anything) appears on the screen in a somewhat uncomfortable position. He has an enormous dog sprawled across his lap. Or is it a dog? It might very well be a lion. Will Graham's reaction will probably let us know. ]

I've always wanted a dog. Ever since I was a kid. We were actually planning on it before Amy left. I just--I'm not so sure she wanted this much dog.

[ He has to struggle to keep his head above the dog's back, so not to get a mouthful of fur when he speaks. He doesn't seem annoyed, though. In fact, he looks absolutely chuffed. The dog-lion doesn't seem to disappointed either. New pals. ]

The problem is--stop. Stop that. [ The dog is trying to lick the bracelet, which means Rory has to lift his wrist above his head, which means he sinks deeper into the sea of fur. Pardon him while he tries to straighten up. ] So the problem is, I was given the dog and nothing to actually care for her with. So maybe someone can let me know where to get some food. And toys. A lead. Oh! And a name, if you have any suggestions.

[ He makes to stop the feed, but he pauses. ] And, Doctor? I'm not naming her after you.

[ His voice becomes muffled, so he stops, smooths the dog's fur down, and tries again. ]

I think she might only be half bear, actually.

I don't think she's ever going to be able to live up to that one. I don't think I've ever seen a horse with this much hair, either.

That's a Leonberger. If you want to name it based on breed, give it a German name. Something about mountains, too.

Or you could just name her Bernadette.

Benny isn't a bad name. She looks a bit like a Benny, doesn't she?

Ah, dogs. Such a fantastic race of creatures. Have you any idea of the history of these creatures? Not so much their evolutionary history, mind, but their history alongside mankind as their faithful companions. I wonder what it must be like, being the companions of a superior species, managing to be completely humble, even loving about it, you know?

[There is a long pause here where the Doctor seriously debates suggesting the name Mel. The dog looks rather like a bush, after all... but perhaps Mel wouldn't find it so amusing.]

Ah. Bessie is a rather good name. Don't you think?

[ Rory would likely not think his dog to look like a Mel anyway. He seems to be a little picky with names. Naming a child was so much easier u g h if only Amy was here. ]

I'm not so sure. I mean, it's a good name, just... [ He pauses, ruffles the dog's fur, and gives her a look. ] Does she look like a Bessie?

That is a very big dog! Not as big as that wolf that Mr. Graham had, but almost there. Did you get that dog from him as well?

Well, no. I don't think so. But he did give me a lot of information on her breed. He seems to really know his dogs. And wolves, apparently.

If you ask one of the old keepers though they may be able to help you out with some left over inventory? Or at least tell you about their suppliers.

[ Not really, but he's put it behind the mental door along with a great deal of other things he's been through. ]

[she's almost a little intimidated and afraid of it. Good job getting a huge animal, Rory. It's more like a horse, she swears. And yes, she's just popped up out of nowhere, looking entirely apprehensive about this new addition to the household.]

I hope you know it's only a matter of time before the Doctor shows up with a saddle and a ridiculous looking hat.

[ Rory smiles, and the dog does little more than pant happily at Clara. She doesn't seem intent on leaving Rory's lap any time soon. At least she's a calm dog; nothing to be intimidated by. ]

You know, I really think he'd get distracted by the hat and forget that he intended to ride her at all.
