25 [Video] Day 367, post earthquake.
[This month has been a steaming sack of shit for Sam Winchester and it's beginning to show -- he's pale, has bags underneath his eyes, and looks like he hasn't slept in days. His home is intact, but he knows some other buildings in Asgard aren't, and Sam is beginning to develop a powerful migraine right in the base of his skull that he wants to attempt removing with a hacksaw.
Normally, Sam has a lot of patience for this kind of stuff -- panic and disarray is kind of the Winchesters' deal. But right now all Sam wants to do is lock his door and ignore everyone plus their mother, because right now, the closest people to him have done nothing but lie to his face about how everything is fine and dandy when in reality, Sam is falling apart at the seams.
Still, Sam has a point to prove -- and when he speaks, it's careful and calm, though a far cry from the normal gentle tone he carries when speaking to the panicked population of Asgard during times like these. He's overtired to the point of blind exhaustion and certainly doesn't have the strength to go around saving babies from burning buildings, but even though his entire life has crumbled to pieces, he's still a hunter.
People still need saving.]
Everyone who's injured needs to head the hospital -- and the able-bodied need to rally together and try to get to the people trapped in the collapsed buildings. The Citadel is a good place to get together, I think -- how about anyone willing to help out meet there? Bring water. The healers don't need to deal with heat stroke on top of everything else.
[Sam pauses for a few moments before drawing in a steady breath, releasing it slowly.]
Stay safe.
[Filtered to Team Merlinatural // Private // Unhackable]
[Family first and all that.]
We need to do something to help -- as much as possible, anyway. I'm sure Arthur's team has got most of the search and rescue thing handled, but --
[Something is really bothering Sam and he runs his hands over his face, trying to focus his thoughts long enough to spit it out.]
-- did you see the natives' faces? They're terrified. I don't think something like this has hit them before. We also need to figure out how big the affected area is and whether or not the weird alternate dimension is responsible.
[There's another pause before he frowns and changes tracks altogether.]
-- does anyone have any sleeping pills?

which means that when the feed on her end comes up, it's of a slightly concerned - okay no very concerned - and a little angry expression. she's hoping that she's covering up the fact that she's pissed as hell and that her body is blocking the view of the roadhouse behind her. one that currently has a giant crack through the ceiling and side wall. ]
I've got to clean up some here, but I can start heading out and funneling people to the Hospital. The connection to the dimensions at the park, right? It feels like this hit the whole city, but it might be worth checking for the source.
[ and then a frown of her own, tight-lipped to hold back what is probably her first and second opinion. ]
I have alcohol. [ which for most, is enough of a sleeping pill. ] You look like shit, by the way.

[Are you challenging the sassmaster to a sassoff Joanna Beth because Sam has no time for this. And he shows it with a slightly tight-lipped frown.]
Starting at the park is a good idea.

[ she can try and she'll probably fail but that doesn't matter to her. not with the way sam frowns at her. she can take a hint sometimes. ]
When this is over, we're having a talk. [ a talk. dreadful words, those, but jo's narrowed eyes make it pretty obvious that he's not getting away with just that ] Where are you starting?

I'll also look around and in the hospital for a suitable triage area where it isn't about to cave in. That way we can separate out who has only superficial wounds and who might actually need surgery. We can't have 'em try to get care all at once, or we'll be swamped.
[He's got this. Well, with help. If he can handle busloads of boys coming out of a battlefield with bits of them blown off, he can handle earthquake casualties. His Healing isn't much yet, but he can still accomplish a lot with his skills.]
And you need to get some sleep as soon as you can, kid. You'll be no use to anyone if you fall on your face.
Sam recognizes that tone, the posture, the business-like approach to death.]
Military?
[He ignores the last point because u don't know his life.]

That's where he is now, at the hospital, essentially pretending he had never been gone, working to help those who have been injured. This is something normal and familiar and something that hasn't changed. It's something he can do.]
Yes. Finding the cause is a good plan, however I believe it can wait until we have dealt with all of the injured.
I have a few sleeping potions remaining.

[Sam, for example, can easily do both things, ok Cas.]

I can provide water, the restaurant my friends own is mostly undamaged. Food as well, to keep the rescue groups going?

That's perfect, Annie.
[That's enough to bring a genuine smile to his face -- Sam had known the last version of Annie fairly well.]
Are you alright?

(not like that, shutup)]I've got my Medic Corps kit, and will be down to the Citadel when I've made sure the children in my family are somewhere safe. I'll likely help pull people out of buildings and do my best to stabilize any of the badly hurt so they can be taken to the hospital without risking permanent injury. I'd rather not be sitting still waiting for them to be brought to me.
[Yep, this is a bad situation, but damn it feels good to have a situation where he's not completely helpless. He feels like the Doctor again, and it's bloody refreshing.]

That all sounds good to me -- just be careful, and give a call if you need any help.

[He thinks about this for a moment.] Aithusa and I can go and have a look around the area just outside the city. She can fly up and tell me if she sees anything strange.
[And now to address the other thing, Merlin gives Sam a look.] I have some sleeping draughts. Are you having trouble sleeping?

[SAM IS IN A REALLY BAD MOOD -- but after that childish snippiness, he sighs.]
That'll work -- and I always have trouble sleeping.
