1st video: job hunting

[She can't believe she's actually doing this, but even as it's not required-it's something to do.]

Is there any business owner on the network hiring full time? I know this place provides basic needs, but a little extra security never hurt anyone.

My name is Sonya Blade. Back home, I'm a liutenant in the United States Army Special Forces, with ten years experience. Education level places emphasis on chemistry, field artillery and Special Warfare . Along with physical training, I'm trained in firearms, computers, and have knowledge of field medicine and first aide.

[She pauses a moment.] I'm also not bad at cooking. No formal teaching in it, but I keep well under pressure and know how to not let things burn.

Not those sorts of parties. I meant to say is that persons interested in an interview.

Why would you need an interview for a party?

[Somehow Sonya manages a good poker face.]

A job interview, not a party interview. Sometimes jobs are controlled by more than one person, so these people are referred to as 'parties'.

I don't have a job yet. I bet I would be a good balloon animal artist or a professional pop singer.

[Sonya's not entirely sure why she's going on with this conversation-other than she's probably a masochist.]

You'd probably have a better shot being a balloon animal artists.

Anyway, the job offer is for me.

You're not being very supportive of my hopes and dreams.

[Sonya's resisting the urge to rub at her temples. She's been through worse conversations after all.]

I don't care if you want to be a pop star, that's great for you. But here, there are no newspapers, no current magazines, and the music shops only seem to get music from Outside sources.

You could get a job singing, but it'll most likely be just on stage and only when people hire you. Not exactly the most stable of jobs.

Is there a stage here? [Brittany needs to find it.]

Maybe Blaine Warbler knows where it is.

[Sometimes, Sonya thinks she's too nice.]

There's a theater in the Freyr district, called Draupnir. That's most likely the place you'd want to check out.

[Brittany would write this down, but why would she do that when she can just track you down and ask you her question again??]

Good, because I'm an excellent performer and I need a stage to truly be at my best. I'm probably the best singer here.

I'll have to take your word for it. Haven't visited the theater just yet.

[Sonya's beginning to wonder just how it is a teenage girl's able to drive her this crazy even after all she's been through.]

[Brittany is just that talented.]

You'll have to see me perform. That could be your job.

Sweetie, I'm asking for a job that pays an actual wage.

Unless you somehow already have a contract with someone, I doubt you'll be able to pay me for just watching you perform.

No, you're supposed to pay me to perform.

[There's a moment when Sonya has to take off the bracelet and step aside a moment. She comes back later looking just a little more composed.]

Hun. Listen to me.

I do not control the theater. It is not mine, and because of that, I'm not the one who's able to pay you to perform there.

A person's job means that they do something in exchange for money-not the other way around.

You want to become a performer, okay, but you'll have to talk to those in charge-not me.

[She just stares blankly at the video.]

Then maybe you should get a job at the theatre. Then you can pay me to sing. You should really get on that.

Mmmmmmm... There's quite a few restaurants and coffee shops all around this place. I don't know any businesses, though, so I can't really help there...

I'd probably have better luck at the restaurants-not sure I have the patience to deal face to face with customers.

[As experienced with the girl she spoke.] You're more helpful than the last person I spoke with.

Wow, then that was really a very unhelpful person... I hardly gave you any information. But maybe you could ask around in the restaurants if they need people.

They weren't. They kept talking about their desires for a music career then suggest I pay them to sing.

Rather headache inducing.

Wow, that must have been really annoying... [She sighs and shakes her head.]

I've put up with worse, to be honest.

Yeah, I can understand that...

[After hanging out with her housemates and the brothers of his housemate/fiancé/boyfriend/whatever.]

But anyway, I think you could find a sort of relaxing job here.

I've only got a clinic, but maybe look into the Citadel? They teach combat, maybe they need more teachers or something.

I'll check it out. Certainly seems like the place where I'll be qualified.

How're shifts at the clinic? I'm still trying to get an idea of the place here and how busy a clinic is is a good indicator in my experience.

It's flexible and depends on what exactly you do, but from nine to 20 or nine to 18, usually.

So it's your basic clinic hours then?

What about security? I've been to clinics and hospitals were it has to be up'ed because of outside forces.

I'm a soldier. If anyone would get the idea to mess with my clinic, I'd take care of it.

[Sonya just barely manages to cover the relief in her voice.]

Medic or surgeon?

I'll be honest. After what I've seen, I hardly put anything past anyone now.

Medic.

People are surprisingly well behaved.

Behaved or just knocked out of their element and not wanting to make enemies?

[It's not paranoia if it's true.]

In which case it really seems to be working.

[The voice over the bracelet sounds all of twelve.]

[There may've just been the slight sound of someone face palming.]

For a paying job-with money I can actually use in this place.

You think I can't give you a paying job? I'm insulted!

[Damn, the gods did a good job, bringing in another experienced warrior.]

You've got great qualifications. Is there a specific kinda job you're looking for? Some of the restaurants around here might need cooks. Laboratory work might be useful too, though magic's used more often.

Right now I'm looking at this place called the Citadel where they teach combat, but it's hardly solid.

You'd rather work somewhere else, huh? Though that's something everyone should learn, before the next attack... What about the shops? Like, bookstores and things like that.

If not combat, than I'd prefer to work with research.

I don't think I'd do too well with customers.

Well, a lot of things here rely on magic, if you're okay with doing research in that area. But we could use more knowledge in science too.
