[Itachi had pondered what best to leave for this particular deity over the course of the next day. He'd hardly looked at the altar for his own patron yet, and praying to gods isn't exactly something he's accustomed to doing in the first place.

He sets up his offering slowly, incense lit and set in a small bowl of sand. He doubts food or money would be appropriate in this case, so he's decided to go with something that holds a little more meaning. The ribbon she'd given him for answering her own question had gone unused, so he tied it now around something else - a ring with the kanji for "scarlet" sitting against a red circle. A representation of the mask he'd taken for himself. It was close enough to her own color that perhaps she'd appreciate it for that reason as well.

Once finished, he sat back on his knees, head bowed before the shrine.]

[Later in the day, Itachi will be sitting in his apartment, a slight frown on his face. He addresses the network for the first time. It would have to be for a question like this, of course...]

If, after you have been here a month, something happens that you did not expect from the previous month's behavior? It is almost guaranteed to be a temporary issue.

Good. I have grown to the point where sometimes I am unsure what I am dealing with. Too many species significantly altered in coming to this place.

Altered? How so?

As an example. My bloodline of my species is known for prodigious strength, but the physical capacities of my person were severely impeded upon arriving. Creatures capable of flight, even through such things as wings, find themselves limited similarly. The biological effects are difficult to determine unless the sample arrives for study.

Ah, I know what you're speaking of. The ability limitations appear to affect everyone, regardless of species.

Yes. In some cases, they alter more or less basic biological functions. In others, supernatural abilities.

I believe some of what they say. This? The more I have watched, the more I am determined that, if they had been able to use our powers, they would have. This is probably not something they are lying about.

It may have benefited them in the long run, as I know many here had capabilities much greater than what they're given here when they were in their original world. One would think the gods would find those useful in their battle, though it's possible they also worried about not having enough control.

Hmmmph, a certain amount of paranoia runs rampart in their ranks. In the end, it changes nothing. I do not need my incredible strength to accomplish impressive tasks in the name of this war effort, and I am not one to back down from a confrontation for the sake of difficulty.

Yes, I believe that would be an accurate assessment. I have a certain amount of pride in my own combative qualities.

Naturally. It is the native state of my species to seek out combat in some fashion.

It is ingrained in our species by nature and nurture. Ours is an empire of ongoing conquest. Survival of the strongest and most cunning is our way of life.
