Okay, so. Now that all that...being corrupted stuff seems to be over. I have a couple of things. Questions.

First, someone who visited my apartment mentioned the idea of selling my paintings. I have no idea if anyone would actually be interested, and I'm sure there are others out there better than me with that drawing life stuff. Figured it couldn't hurt to ask or whatever.

[And with the mentions of her paintings, Kara uses the bracelet to show an example of her work, painted on her apartment's walls. She's still somehow drawn to the mandala, that pattern of the Eye of Jupiter. That and her poem feature most prominently.]

More importantly, I figure everyone should know at least some basic self defense. Even the kids and healers, if possible. So if something happens again when some of us are off on some trip, things might not get so....chaotic. I'm not saying we all need to be military or anything, but some basic self defense would probably help and could mean the difference between you getting hurt or killed. Even if death isn't permanent here, that still doesn't mean we shouldn't try to avoid it if possible.

I was told Arthur would be one to talk to about that sort of thing. I know how to use guns, and knives. Basic hand to hand stuff myself, but other weapons you might want to talk to someone else.

Also, is it just me or has it been getting a bit colder? Been a while since I was planet-side and experienced seasons and all, I guess.

I never thought about the idea of selling them until Anders mentioned it. I guess it's worth a try. If people really want to decorate or whatever with how long some of us have been stuck here.

[She shrugs. Kara doesn't particularly care much either way. But at least now she can't say she didn't offer and go through with Anders' suggestion.]

Well, have to come out of hibernation or whatever eventually. Even hangovers eventually fade off. But sure, I'll keep you in mind. Any particular weapons you would be most comfortable teaching?

It depends. I can handle just about anything.

Tips for what in particular? Hand to hand, guns?

Yeah. You brought up the drawing stuff, though, so I was kinda looking for tips on that...

But if you're offerin' tips on fighting, sure, I'll take them. I'm a hand to hand kinda guy.

Because I imagine it still hurts like a bitch and I doubt it's exactly a walk in the park for these gods to bring us back from it. I'm still not about to just go casually letting myself get killed, even if I know I could come back from it.

Sort of? But in a war it never hurts to be careful. As many of us that can should be able to at least figure the basics to defend ourselves. There have been times were some of us have been away and the frost giants have attacked then.

[frost giants. that's ridiculous. but he's seen more ridiculous things and he's just been here for a day, he shouldn't readily discount everything out of disbelief or conflict in logic. none of this apparently matters in this place.

[First, there's a small, honest smile, even though Jane looks kind of distracted.] Your art is really interesting. I'm not much of an artist and I'm not able to buy anything right now, so I can't help or anything, but it is. I like the colors.

[And then there's the actual reason she commented, and after a pause she launches into it, a more serious expression coming over her face--]

Are the chances of getting into danger that high? Is there any way to lower it, maybe? I don't really know how to fight.... And I can look into learning now, so thank you for mentioning it, but that won't help me if something happens right away.

[She shrugs, rather indifferent either way in regards to her paintings. Though Kara notes she isn't sure she recognizes this other woman.]

Well, it's high enough. We don't always get any or much warning before the frost giants attack. And it's not always that simple. Last time we had them sort of...get inside our heads, control us to attack each other. But learning to defend yourself is a good idea. I know learning will take time, but it's something at least. Better than being completely helpless. We try to help each other out, of course, but that doesn't mean it's safe.

[And now she's just starting to look alarmed. The implications of 'here to FIGHT A WAR' hadn't entirely penetrated the fog of 'new universe new things to poke POKE ALL THE THINGS' before. Now it's starting to sink it.

She clears her throat after a second, straightens her shoulders, puts on a small smile.] I'll have to get some training as soon as I can, I guess. I'm glad to hear I should have some backup if it comes to it, at least.

[ Arthur keeps a soft smile in place from seeing her artwork to cover his slight discomfort in broaching the second topic. ]

The Citadel is, for the time being, closed for some ... renovations. I'll be moving our lessons to the Arena until then, but you'd be more than welcome to join us, if you'd like.
