3rd Tease -- video;
[Flame burst to life in front of the viewer's screen, his hands cupped together to house the matchstick's light. Touching it to the cigarette in his mouth, clear pleasure was in the sound of that smokey breath that drifted outwards from his lightly parted lips. The Noah couldn't be bothered by the fact he was smoking in a hospital. It was his first vice in days. The view pulled back when his hands did to reveal Tyki dressed in plain hospital white. He didn't have any injuries and the only part of his skin that really looked damaged was the scars that ran down his chest from his slightly opened shirt.]
The unsightly and unattractive faces of those taking care of the sick in this place is rather alarming but god like beggars can't be choosers. Then again, if anyone wants to prove me wrong, I wouldn't mind a pretty face right now. Now before you all go and get your knickers in a twist, I didn't come here willingly. Until my internal injuries clear up further, I'm stuck here.
[That trademark grin that widens pinches the cigarette against his teeth makes it clear he means every word.] Mm, but you know... I'd kill for some decent food or a game of poker right now.

Welcome. I managed to pilfer a deck of cards from someone.

Admitting to stealing when we've only just met? That's brave.

[Tyki's hands know the cards well and it is evident the way he moves them over his hands. He's organizing them on a little table he pulled over the bed so she can see every face and number.] How much do you know of cards?
no subject
[She's watching avidly, leaning in a little.] They're numbered and you can gamble with them. [So... not much.]
no subject
[He spreads them out for better view and point when he speaks of them.] Every card has a value and a suit. Suit sounds exactly as it is. Like a color or new dress assigned. You start with two being the lowest and work your way up to a ten. Then it is Jack, Queen, King and Ace. But sometimes, the Ace can act as a one.
no subject
Mm, I see. [She's looking over the cards curiously.] So is the ace card the highest or lowest in poker?

In this order this winning hand beats the other. Your goal is to gain a winning hand in the end.

Alright, then how do I only get five in my hand?
no subject
From the dealer. I'll play that role this time.

[She's clueless and excited, shifting her chair closer.]

Look at your cards. Keep them to yourself. The point is to try to match what you have against the highest combination of the cards I showed you earlier. Whatever you don't want, you set down when it is your turn. The dealer will deal you the same amount of cards back.

[It sounds embarrassingly easy to her, and it probably would be if she wasn't breaking out in a wide grin as her eyes scan over the cards she's given. She'll pick three out and set them face down.]
I'd like three more!
no subject
[He deals her three after taking three and deal himself two the same way. Spreading out his cards, he feels confident.] Poker is a gamble. You either lose everything or gain everything. There is no middle ground.
no subject
Which is hilariously misguided because she has absolutely nothing in regards to a poker face.]
Hmmm, those are some scary odds!
no subject
Chances are he has a pair as well. It all depends on which is higher.]
Aren't they? It's what makes it fun.
no subject
Maybe....
What do we do now?
no subject
Lay your cards out and see who has the better hand. If we were betting, we'd do it here, there, and right before this.
no subject
Oh.
Her expression falls as she looks at her hand again, then reluctantly sets it down. A pair of 7's.]
Good thing we aren't betting.

The thing with poker is that people like to gamble, little lady. When betting, you can either play what you have or 'fold'. That means you set your cards down when it is your turn the wrong way so they don't show and opt out of the hand. Sure, you lose whatever you bet but it's smaller than whatever you might've kept betting in the long run.
In short: Don't play unless you think you have a good hand especially if you have a lot to lose.
no subject
[Okay, so it seems she isn't nearly as good at this as she thought.]
That... that sounds a little more complicated.
no subject
[But that's the common excuse anyone would give to a novice. No one wants them to get as good as the teacher.]
no subject
[It's the best way to get more practice in, after all.]

[Dealing out another hand.]
