[So… colors will form and overtake the grey if there’s enough social interaction, right? And supposedly, people can also strengthen their abilities…

Keeping that in mind, Gaara activates the bracelet. There’s something he doesn’t understand, anyway. Maybe he can get some answers to satisfy his curiosity.]

Since there is no established judicial system in this world, punishment was exacted by the people that captured him. In this case, killing the perpetrator was the most efficient method for ensuring the safety of the general public. He was a repeat offender, and refused to relent.

Why do so many of you oppose this decision?

I think at first people thought that imprisonment would be enough of a punishment, especially since we could possibly get information from him.

But after his escape, I don't know. I think he clearly needed to be killed after harming so many people, and I think we got as much information from him as we could.

I guess some people just value individual lives as ultimately sacred.

I didn't. I thought he should've died the first time.

Yeah, I'm not sure they completely understand that when you're at war you're always at war, not just when you're in battle.

... Kill him? That's what you think?

Exactly! Because look what happened! A bunch of people who voted to kill him in the beginning were worried something like this might happen. And it wasn't just people getting sick - all of us with shops he broke into are stuck paying for the damage and missing inventory.

Nope! No disagreements here~

I just wish I could've seen it happen! It looked like they had fun.

[He knows how cruel the ninja world is. He lives right in the middle of it, and it's as if he's fighting a constant battle against this idea that anything bad needs to die.]

You don't think maybe none of this wouldn't have t'happen if they'd just kept an eye on this guy?

A lot of them have already had time to adapt, and at least one battle fought already.

I honestly have no idea. I initially voted to keep him alive, but only because he needed to be questioned as much as possible. But after escaping and proving that he really intended harm, there's no reason to keep him alive. He proved where his loyalties lay and what he wanted.

[He just laughs. Yaay, murder.]

The killing, definitely! The catch is great too, but mostly 'cause it leads to more carnage.

Because most the people here are morons.

[Weird. This is like the second time in a week he's agreed with you, Gaara.]

Nah, it's never totally sated. But I'll take what I can get, y'know?

You should've seen what people were saying when he was first caught. Way more people are supporting the guy's death now. I guess drinking acid makes people grumpy, nya ha!

Yeah. I haven't been able to clean any of it up, either. I've been sick and the co-owner is grey. [She is so, so annoyed at this whole week.]

They were stupid to give it to him in the first place.

A lot of them come from worlds where they try to obey their laws, punish them by their laws, and live 'humanely.' It's usually kind of fake, since they break their own rules a lot when it doesn't suit them. But, they do try to be what they think is civilized.

But... that's the thing. The courts haven't reformed yet. Attempts at government have faltered. And, when they deal with ... well, ... [She sounded nervous and out of sorts now. Given that she could go completely insane about once every few months, and had definitely killed people before, but been spared a trial for mental instabilities, people jsut trying to help lock her up, it was probably understandable that this was hitting home.]

They don't know how to treat him differently without feeling hypocritical. They don't realize you can't avoid a little hypocrisy sometimes.
