Jack! Jack Jack Jack! Doctor, Miss Tardis! And just... just anyone! [Alice is practically spinning never mind jumping and bouncing. She has drawings all over her walls of the three guardians she met.]

I met them! I met Father Christmas and the Easter Bunny and even the Tooth Fairy! I met them all and they're incredible and amazing and so much better than the stories ever said! Did anyone else get to meet them while they were here!

[She suddenly gasps although not in surprise but in excitement.]

AND HE KNEW! Jack, Doctor, Miss Tardis! Father Christmas knew! [Knew what is left unanswered but she's too excited to explain.]

THEY WERE HERE! I hope everyone got to meet them!

Right, and I'm certain you don't complain about something that ... technically everyone is obligated to do anyway.

You mean homework? I'm not fond of homework either. But Miss Hermione makes sure my homework will help me. It's a lot of it, though. Nothing as bad as my governess, though.

I'm fairly certain our homework was meant to help, too.

What is that, exactically?

Well, in our world, there's something called dark magic. It's a nastier brand of what we do. But that's not all. There are also ... darker creatures, and darker things you need to deal with, and the class generally deals with all of it.

I suppose you would need to learn how to defend against it. Like those who make swords would need to learn to use a shield.

But what do you mean by darker creatures?

Darker creatures aren't always dark. Sometimes they can't help that they're violent. But, er, werewolves, that's one. And inferi—they're another. The walking dead.

Yes I know. I've met some very nice creatures that would be considered oh ah... bad, by most. I've met some very nice werewolves here. I've also met some very nice creatures too that were incredibly different than what you would think.

Right, and sometimes, things go wrong, and even if they aren't bad people, they can't stop themselves. I've met nice giants, too.

.... Were the nice giants here?

No, back home, but it is ... why I'm wondering about them.

Do you think then the gods might be wrong? The giants have done some very nasty things.

I think it's not possible that we're fighting all of the giants available. Not everyone fights. Not in any war.

I... ah... I know I don't. Fight, that is.

Yeah. You help through something like this—speaking to me. I'm more of a fighter, usually. But my guess is that there are people over there who support their queen because they have to, not because they want to.

Well... we tend to only fight those who are fighting, don't you?

Yeah, but I've worried about those who don't fight. What happens to them?

I... don't know. But maybe we could find a way to reach out to them?

It's an idea, if it's worth it. Asking people who know more would be the first step.

... That would be the gods then. And I don't think they have any desire to try.

I think I'm going to wait and see.
