( why, look who it is! she'd made it through the battle and back, but Hermione had kept it all on the down low (mostly to keep people from worrying and to keep herself from going mad). it'd been too much like the final battle at home for her comfort and her nightmares had returned in full force. but never fear, friends in the city! other than a few scratches and her usual dark circles under her eyes, she looks fine - in fact, she's beaming. )

I hope everyone is all right. Have all the people who didn't come home with us appeared in the city again?

( that's the only tactful way she can think of to address 'death' here. she doesn't want to think of the psychological ramifications, not right now. )

It was splendid .. really, everyone did wonderfully and I'm .. so glad. I think that even though it's not over, there isn't anything wrong with being proud of ourselves and taking a moment to be pleased. After all, victories haven't exactly been heaped on our plate, lately.

( they could do with a raise in spirits, really. )

Lancelot has returned so it must be Gwen's.

[ and she sighs her relief. It's still not having Gwen back but it is a step in the right direction. Morgana cannot relax nor can she be glad with her gone but her bracelet is at least found and at once, she's grateful for the girl. ]

It is actually a lot better, yeah. I take it that it feels good to rescue Freyr from the dark? Doesn't win the war, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

Maybe it doesn't win the war, but it's good for everyone, and not just the travelers, to see that we can do this.

It's definitely encouraging.

Well, if anything, people actually pulling something like this off might finally convince a few of the gods that we're good for something. Freyr might very well be the first, but Freya will probably be grateful.

Look. I'm not very hurt, really, and it'll heal. And all of the other people who fought, they have friends who care, too and are being taken care of. We all knew what we were getting into. It's all right.

I think everyone is happy that we were finally able to fight for ourselves.

( Hermione is more of the mindset that she would shield everyone she cares about from war as long as possible, no matter how much she understands wanting to protect those you care about. )

As much as possible. It got rather chaotic, but I did my best. It was strange, fighting with him...

If anything, it might convince some of us that we shouldn't be discouraged. Whatever the gods think of us, what we think of ourselves matters more.

Is... is it really so important to fight for yourself? [Alice didn't like fighting at all, if she could help it. She understood it she just...]

I don't know how to fight and I can't heal. I'm not very useful in all this.

I think people feel rather helpless when they're told that there is a war going on, but they can't do anything about it. ( Sort of like the situation Alice is in. ) And then horrible things happened, with the nightmares.. and people felt even more helpless. At the very least, this was something that we could do.

( She worried at her lower lip a moment, before offering a smile. )

But you can do other things, right? Bringing food to people, offering encouragement, even making people smile .. it doesn't feel useful, but it helps.
