[ash is in baldr park, his hair halfway contained in a ponytail and his face red enough to suggest he's just been doing some heavy lifting]

So, since a bunch of you apparently did some really heroic stuff and possibly resurrected a god and all, my boss decided that was worth celebrating. In this case, celebrating means free food. Come on over to the park. There's plenty to eat and drink, although if you're interested in the hard stuff you'll need to bring your own. And I guess if you feel like bringing more food, nobody's going to complain. It's a nice day, we'll be here all afternoon.

Sure is, although a good bit of it is iced.

What sort of food if I may ask?

Pretty good variety, really. There's sandwiches and soup and some salads and rice balls and stew and bread and rice pudding, so far.

Rice balls and pudding? Where they from originally? I have never heard of either.

Not sure exactly on the pudding. My aunt taught me the recipe, I think it's from Prandhar technically. And the rice balls are Iavaian maybe. They're supposed to be really spicy but I made half of them less so because not everyone enjoys crying over their food.

That seems like a wise decision. I would much rather not cry over my food. British cuisine is anything but full of spices.

Food! Are there sweets too??

Not too many, but there's rice pudding and some bread you could put butter and sugar on if that's your thing.

[True to her word, Nepeta soon shows up at the park, riding on the back of her fearsome steed. Pounce, obviously, is following her nose right to the food, and it takes quite a lot of tugging on her fur from Nepeta to get her to slow down and stop instead of running right into everything.]

Pfft, you're so silly, Pounce. This kind of food won't run away from us!

[okay, trolls he's used to, but that is a large kitty with one too many mouths]

Oh, wow. I'm not sure what we have that would appeal to cats.

[Nepeta has just gotten gently thrown onto the ground so that Pounce can sidle up to this new human and do a giant-cat equivalent of a kitty rubbing itself against his ankles.]

[giant kitty full of love vs. 6'2" skinny ginger kid! which is to say that he probably nearly gets bowled over but as long as kitty looks happy she can have pets]

At least she's friendly. How did you end up with a giant cat? I've never seen anything like her.

[Tiny barely 5' Nepeta says it's not that bad! But she's certainly glad to see that they're getting along. She knows some of the people here find Pounce a bit overwhelming, but give her a few pats and some head scritches and she will be the happiest kitty ever.]

Of course she is! She's the most friendly. She's my lusus from back home, I wished for her and they brought her back to me!

[he's...moderately overwhelmed, but as long as pounce is being a big housecat and not a big scary hunter they're cool]

Ooh. Wow, she's a lot bigger than Terezi's. Although I suppose there's no reason to think she'll stay small...

[he talks to eggmom all the time, actually, so he telepathically projects a hello at pounce as well while giving her ears a scratch]

[Pounce is being a big housecat with the energy and curiosity of a tiny kitten. At least she's not trying to climb onto him. Yet.]

Terezi's is suppawsed to be a lot bigger too! Much bigger than Pounce. But maybe she'll grow more once she hatches!

[Pounce, in the meantime, purrs loudly and happily and rubs her head into his hand. There's no reply, though, or any sign that she heard him. Telepathy is something particular to dragonmom.]

[ash trine is, unfortunately, not a suitable climbing apparatus for anything much bigger than a regular housecat]

Not too big, I hope, or she won't fit in the room.

[that's a bit unexpected, but he'll keep up with the scratching even if there's no conversation]

Oh, I should introduce myself, shouldn't I? Ash Trine. Terezi's my suitemate.

[Someone needs to inform Pounce of this. But no, luckily nothing of the sort is happening. Instead she rolls over onto her back, presenting her tummy to be rubbed.]

Pfft, look at you making everyone love you. [Nepeta giggles, bending to to rub her own hands into her lusus' fur, and getting a gently paw tap in thanks.]

Well, purrhaps Terezi could move into a tree again... Ohh, you're her wiggler! She told me about you! It's furry nice to meet you, Ash. I'm Nepeta! Terezi's a friend of mine, we used to roleplay together back on Alternia.

[she can have her belly rubs, although they're slightly more cautious because ash is familiar with the kitty habit of presenting a belly to rub and then catching that hand to bite it]

She's still calling me that? I'm actually older than her, I'll have you know. Nice to meet you though, Nepeta.

[Thankfully, that is one habit Pounce doesn't have. She's well aware of the sharpness of her teeth and the strength of her jaw. If someone disposed to giving her bellyrubs accidentally loses a hand, that would mean less bellyrubs for her.]

Pfft, it's Terezi we're talking about! She doesn't give up on something just because it doesn't make sense. I'm glad I got to meet you, though! I think she's pretty fond of you, I wanted to get to say hi for a while now.

Now I'm a little afraid of what tales she's been telling. She's been an interesting roommate, that's for sure.

[he definitely sounds more fond than actually afraid, and doesn't pause in his kitty belly rubbing either]

[Just think, you never know what she might have been licking! But no, Nepeta is very fond of Terezi too, as frustrating as her friend can be sometimes.]

[ash is full of denial about his fondness levels for terezi, it's very silly. so he addresses the enormous kitty instead, his hand moving to scratch beneath her chin]

You do have an awful lot of belly to rub, Pounce.

[The purr she lets out at that sounds very much like laughter, and she stretches her head up to try and lick Ash's face for him.]

Heehee, she purrobably means that she has to be big to contain how pawesome she is!

[she gets away with one very thorough lick before he carefully disengages his face]

I certainly cannot argue that.

[Ash is probably Nepeta's new favourite person. Be nice to her kitty and she is yours forever.]

We should all have some snacks now! What about you, Ash? Have you eaten yet? [The mention of food finally gets Pounce back on her feet, just as Nepeta knew it would.]

I've eaten a bit. It's technically my job to serve the food, not consume it.

Well, you can purrtend you're helping me to taste everything! Oh yes. So it's very impurrtant for you to have some too!

[He's not one of the ones obsessed with ginger; in fact, he thinks his own shade of blond is far superior to any other shade of hair there could possibly be, though he mostly keeps that opinion to himself these days.

Oh... savory? I suppose. Or sweet. Either would be fine, I'm sure. [Otherwise he could just start trying a bit of everything, but that does seem a bit... greedy. Or something along those lines.]
