[The video opens on a guy sitting by what looks like the lake in Gefion Park. He's got long dark hair and scars on his face, and doesn't seem to know what to do when there's something recording him. It's like talking to no one when you start a network conversation, that's strange! But he seems casual enough.]

I'm looking to talk to anyone with the "drawing" power I've heard about.

We'll be in the park in Baldr unless the weather turns to shit.

[Should you be in the park or head there after seeing the message, Kieran is indeed sitting by the water with a skinny redhead. They seem to be discussing something written in the redhead's notebook.]

[Pyro isn't far away when the message is sent, so he goes to deliver his own in person.]

If you're looking to have them draw anything living, it won't come out right. [A vaguely pained look.

From behind him appears a giant lizard, which hisses but doesn't otherwise show any sign of aggression. Yep, Pyro's just taking his basilisk for a walk, hoping to end the routine trashing of his room.]

Nah, one of the trolls did. Said it'd breathe fire, but all it does is eat my clothes and trash my room. At least it's stopped trying to kill me.

I'm pretty close, believe me. This asshole was made to be hunted and killed anyway, before I played SPCA 'cause I thought it'd be useful.

[He can't admit that he's been whipped into keeping it by his two booty calls, so he just leaves it at that. The basilisk nips at Pyro's ankles at the insults, leaving several small puncture marks in his jeans and all the way through to the skin, but he just lashes out with his foot and seems to ignore the wounds.]

So what is so important that you can't get here?

[the skinny redhead is staying out of this for now, but he's watching pyro when he's not fussing with his notebook. ash is pretty much the epitome of kids pryo probably punched in high school--ginger, freckled, tall and skinny with a prominent nose. he's also holding hands with the tough guy, which doesn't do much of anything at all to make kieran look less vaguely threatening]

[Excuse you, he threw fire at peoples' heads, he didn't punch. In fact, he'd be a lot better off now if he'd ever learned to fight instead of leaning on his mutation for protection.

But the hands don't go unnoticed, and in a lull in his conversation with the big guy, he glances over at the other with eyebrows arched.]

He's the muscle, you're the brains?

Actually, he's pretty damn smart. Sure does have me beat for muscle though. I'm the nerd, I guess.

[he has a pleasant sort of voice, and coupled with the expression he's kind of the epitome of unthreatening. those are definitely runic arrays he's doodling]

First step is knowing you have a problem. [He snorts, planning to tease the guy some more, when he notices the doodles. He still hasn't forgotten that explosion he saw over the network and how helpful it could be to the Brotherhood in leaving an untraceable path of destruction.]

That is Alchemy. Alchemization involves the use of one substance of basic construction material to craft any of a number of useful items. Here and in my world, there are occasions where drawing may be used to assist this process. Something of an empowered blueprint if you will.

[So are monsters like the burly, muscled creature walking towards him, mopping his brow with a towel. He's got a notepad and pencil in one hand as he gets close and nods.]

[kieran gets the sense that the little girl isn't going to draw him weapons... but there's other stuff they need! he will tone down the language with a kid, too.]

Well, it was just little things at first, oh! But now I can make things come to life. I drew a flower and it came to be! Which is very different than before, you know. Before I could draw something but it was no bigger than what I drew on a paper. Once I tried to draw a stuffed animal, but it didn't have any stuffing and it couldn't move. Oh! But it's very different now. I drew an entire tree! It's a very good thing I drew it outside because it's at least as tall as a house now!

[this is kieran's show, and ash is letting him run it. mostly he's either fussing around with runes or practicing some entirely other strange writing system in the notebook in his lap. he's still paying attention, though, and will occasionally murmur something to kieran in a language that's definitely not asgardian]

[Terezi smelled the anger basically the moment Kieran and Ash approached the door to hive. Her head snaps up and she pulls her lusus to her chest, ignoring the instinctive prickle in the back of her neck. Her fight or flight instincts go off hard when Kieran walks into the room, but Ash is flitting beside him like normal and they retreat to their room without any fanfare.

Fretful, Terezi busies herself gnawing on a thumbnail and trying to ignore the radiating irritation seeping under the door, but it's... persistent. Hm.

She doesn't really know how to handle Kieran and she's never really wanted to, but eventually she settles her lusus in the nest that Terezi constructed for her between the emaciated springs of the torn apart couch and rolls to her feet, folding her cane under her arm as she pads over to the boys' bedroom. Her claws raise to the surface of the door and scratch at it like a fussy meow beast, scraping over it enough to make noise without actually damaging the surface.

It's annoying but it's more fun than just knocking or saying hello. Even if that shouldn't be her priority right now, really.]

[there's a cranky, almost growling sound on the other side of the door, then it opens abruptly. kieran looms in the frame, his hand tense on the doorknob. terezi should really know better than this, he thinks, as ash may have defused him but he still feels like a bomb that could go off if something else hits his anger just right.

terezi does tend to piss him off.]

[If she wasn't a troll who'd faced down monsters twice his size and growled back before ripping out their throats, Terezi might've cowered a little bit. Her survival instincts still shrivel up and scream, because monsters and animals are different from adults, and it's been programmed into her since hatching that you're never safe from adults until you're an adult yourself, but she swallows back her apprehension and grins a little crookedly.]

I just had a question.

[he is not in the mood for this. he's not in the mood to be around anyone but ash, unless he can hit them. he's not going to ask her again, just stands there waiting for her to spit out whatever the hell it is she wants so that he can go back to being cranky in peace/letting ash distract him from it.]
